Book Review(The Big Bad Fox)

My Book Review

(The Big Bad Fox)

The Big Bad Fox is a story about a fox that is always pretty hungry and goes to a farm to steal stuff, which is a normal fox thing. But, there are 3 chicks he stole that think he’s their mama. Fox does not like these chicks and the wolf promised after a few months they would eat them. But somehow, this fox got attached to these chicks. And the hens on the farm have created a Fox Exterminators Club because the hens hate the fox so much. If you want to know what the Big Bad Fox decides to do, read the book!

I think that the author is trying to tell me that some people, they may seem like troublemakers, they can be a party pooper, but they can change. So before you judge someone and make an army to go into war with that person, you should investigate that person until you’re 10000% sure that person is really bad or really good.

My favorite part is when the wolf tells the fox that they should eat them now and the fox tries to convince the wolf that they shouldn’t eat them yet. I like this part because I think it’s really funny and that it’s really sweet, too.

If you like funny jokes, or a “different” animal heart, or cute and funny drawings, then this book is totally for you.

I highly recommend this book to all readers, quick or slow, like reading or not, young or old, this book still can be very enjoyable. I enjoy this book because it’s not too hard, it has amazing, cute, and funny drawings, it’s super funny, and it’s just amazing! I enjoyed this book a lot, I hope that you will too.

Welcome to 5th Grade!

This year, it’s still Covid-19. Last year it was also Covid-19. So was 3rd grade. I’m in 5th grade now, in the very last year of elementary. It’s weird to just end elementary school with masks and different ways of how school works. Although I’ve been through this for almost 3 years, it still seems a bit disappointing. In the last 18 months, to be honest, everything was fine. For example, all of us are healthy and happy, we got more privileges for things, and we were always a bit busy(not really in the summer though, of course).  And, we’re pretty much always entertained by modern tools or activities. For me, I wasn’t very much bothered by this virus. Like, all of my family is healthy and I’m keeping on with life. But still, this virus did affect me and my body. For example, my eyesight has lowered because we were kept home a lot, and that made us do more virtual stuff. Another example is that we couldn’t see some of our family members that are all the way on the other side of the world. And my family usually goes back each summer. Because lots of the airports in China are closed, this way, I wouldn’t see my grandparents for 3 summers! Even though lots of things happened, and everything isn’t normal, we still have to try to stop the virus. And that means that everyone could just do a little work and this may stop earlier. It’s really easy, even though you’re vaccinated, you can still wear a mask to prevent the 10% percent of the possibility of getting covid-19. Let’s just think that this will help stop covid-19 sooner or later.

One of the things that really stood out to me is maybe going back to school for full days, and having a class with 24 people in 4th grade. This is because we’ve been doing half-year of virtual in 3rd grade and another half-year of half-days and half-class(cohorts) in 4th grade. This makes a great advantage on doing longer days school, with a bigger class, and understanding how full-school days are gonna work. This makes me think that this year will be a bit not as confusing as last year because we already know what school is probably gonna be like. Having half-days was very hard for me because my best friend was in a different cohort than me so I was very lonely for a really long time. This also affected me in being a little more “me” in school. And at that time, I got a new friend… My cat, Coral. This made me a lot happier, not only because I wasn’t that lonely anymore(well, my brother was always there to make me mad), but this is my first pet in my life!

One thing I’m looking forward to is probably learning more educational stuff and then moving on to middle school. But, I’m not saying that I really want to leave elementary, it’s just that I have a feeling that middle school may be interesting. A lot of people say that middle school is better than elementary and high school is better than middle school, and so on. Also, my mom said that middle school has periods and in each subject, you can probably learn more and get better at it because the teacher who is teaching it is really focused and good at it to teach that subject. So this might means there’s a chance that I’ll get better at school. Of course, there is still lots of homework there, waiting for me to do them, but I still look forward to seeing what middle school is like( it’s scary).

This is what I look forward to and what happened in the past. All these things are what I think, these things are what I look forward to. So that means you don’t have to think the same. But there’s still a lot to look forward to than just middle school, and there’s a lot more than just cohorts and getting a cat that happened in the last 18 months, but this will just be what I’m sharing in this entry.

Allie, the Algae ball (1)

Allie is an algae ball, or you might have called it a Marimo. You might be wondering what is a algae ball(Marimo). Well, let’s not go too far now! Here’s how I got that rare plant. I was in Kindergarten at that time. I had an after-school club, it’s about studying different beings. One day, when I was in that club. My teacher said that we are going to plant a plant, when we are done we will be bringing it home. We started it by making its home, in a glass jar. I took off the cap. Our teacher gave us sand. “That will be the platform of the home,” my teacher said. I pour the sand into the jar. Then, our teacher gave us marbles. “That will be some company for your Algae!” my teacher explained. Oh, I know that’s kind of weird, but it’s part of making the habitat(Not really the real habitat, just the home). After that, the teacher gave us stones, that have carved words on them! I put it in. “Stones is part of the being’s habitat. The words, like Peace, is for the plant to hope to have that opportunity to have it. That peace stone, wishes the Algae to have peace.” my teacher said. I put in the stones and put in the water. Finally, my teacher gave me the Algae! “Here’s the ALGAE!” my teacher said, excited. I carefully put it in the glass jar, it looked amazing! (it just looked like a moss ball in real life) “Oh my! Time is up! It’s time to go home! And remember to change its water every Wednesday. Good-bye!” I was sooo happy that I finally got my first pet plant.

Electromagnet

Today in class, we learned how to test an electromagnet’s strength. We tested to wrap a quarter, a half, a three quarter, and one whole of the wire around the bolt. People have different opinions. Some people think that the less wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is. Other people think that the more wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is. It turns out that the more wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is.

I wonder how does all of this work? How does the magnet get so powerful? Well, I guess that I have to find that out myself. Electromagnets are temporary, because you can take it apart or the battery had run out, or you disconect the wire. If those stuff happens then it won’t work.

When it was time to clean up, it was very messy. But overall it was very fun.

The Day At The Mall

One Saturday morning my dad pointed at the car. I said “Why?” My dad didn’t explain— he just said a few words “I think we should wake up Evan and eat breakfast.” I just said “Okay.” Walking like a snail into the big, red front door, I walked around the house waiting until I heard Evan’s loud noise.

After Evan woke up he ate like a messy little kindergartener and I ate like the slowest thing in the world!  I wondered who I should ask to get some clues about where we were going. I thought maybe my mom would know. “I was very confused when Dad pointed at the car,”  I said softly to my Mom. My Mom gave me a useless hint. She said that my Dad was taking Evan and me to a fun place! After my Mom said that I said that I still didn’t understand. My Mom suggested that I go upstairs and think.  I thought that was a great idea. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs into my room.

I thought and thought. Finally, I thought “why don’t I talk to Dad and maybe he could tell me some useful hints.”  I ran downstairs again into the office where my Dad sat, I asked, “can you give me some hints to the fun pace we are going too?”  My Dad answered in a low voice, “no but you are going to know very soon.” Once I said in my mind what? My plan did not work out as I thought.

I was very surprised when dad said that, he always gave me some hints,”but why doesn’t he give me some hints on this little trip” I thought. Suddenly my eyes got wide open. I thought that maybe this meant that this little trip might be very, very different from the other little trips! Suddenly I heard my dad calling me. “Cindy, come down, we are going to the fun place that you really want to know.”  I said, “Why are we going right now? It’s still 9:40.” My dad answered “Because Evan is done with his homework. Are you done with yours?” “Yes,” I shouted. My dad was very surprised at how loud I could shout. He shouted back, “ THEN COME DOWN INTO THE CAR AND HAVE FUN!”

I was more surprised at how loud my dad could shout! I went downstairs and walked out to the car. I was very excited. While I was thinking about where we were going, the car took off. I opened my eyes from thinking and looked out the window. I saw we were already on the highway! “Dad,” I said, “can we hear some music–I’m feeling carsick.” My dad turned on some music. I listened and listened for a long time and suddenly my nose pressed against the window as I looked out. “We’re here!” my dad announced as he pulled into a space in the large parking lot.

I rushed out of the car. My eyes opened wide. I held onto my dad’s and as we walked into the mall. It was gigantic! My dad took my brother and me to the highest floor. We were right in front of a huge obstacle course. “Let’s go in,” my dad suggested. “OK,” I answered excitedly. The attendant attached a harness around my body. I walked in first. “This so high, “I told my dad, excited. Then we climbed our way through the course, up through the levels.  As it got higher it, it was getting scarier. My brother told my dad he wanted to get off. My dad said to me “I’m getting off the course with Evan, OK?” I answered sadly, “OK,” and continued on the course.

I walked and walked but then got tired and started to head back to the exit. I heard a sound and turned. It was my dad and Evan waiting for me. I walked as fast as I could to the end and after taking off my harness ran toward my dad.I hugged him tightly because I had missed him. My dad asked us what we wanted for lunch. I said, “I don’t know, what do you want?”  He took us to get chicken nuggets. We ate super fast because we were so hungry after all that exercise.

After lunch, my dad took us to Billy Beez, an indoor park. It was very big, colorful and full of slides. My brother and I ran from one place to another non-stop until we realized that an hour had passed! It was time to go.  We left the mall and went to the car. I was so tired as my dad drove onto the highway that I fell asleep.

Science of Magnets

Today at school, I learned about magnets! A magnet contains a force that attracts certain metals, like iron. Today, people make their own magnets. Magnets come in all sizes! Every magnet has a north pole and a south pole. A magnet is the strongest at its poles. A needle in a compass is a magnet. It always points to the north pole of Earth. When iron filings gather around a magnet is called a magnetic field. Paper clips will stick to a magnet. So will bells!

Magnets come in all shapes and sizes! Long ago, people discovered that some metal objects would even stick to a special rock! This rock is called lodestone.Magnets have different shapes. Some of the magnets names are horseshoe magnet,U-shaped magnet, block magnets, bar magnet, disk magnets, rod magnets, and more…

Magnets are very interesting things, there are more stuff for you to find out yourself!
