Vote For Me

Did you vote or are you still undecided, well if you don’t really know about the candidates you should learn so you know what you’re voting for. Hi, I’m Charlotte and I’m running for class president as one of the candidates. I will listen to your ideas and try to fix them to the best of my abilities. I’m honest, caring, and will help everyone. If you’re still not hooked, read my article then make your final vote.

The first rule/adjustment I would make is having more hands-on activities, Such as typing on your Chromebook and drawing diagrams. I think this is important because if you are always just writing in your notebook and sitting in your chair, maybe you won’t get as involved and understand what your teacher is teaching you.

The next rule/adjustment I would make is having more of a choice of where you can sit. Some people focus better at their desk and some focus better closer up. Some teachers give their students the option most of the time but some tell their students to sit at their seat or to always sit at the rug. Sometimes you don’t always have the option but during full class learning I think you should. Sometimes if everyone is sitting at the rug you can get distracted by a friend but if you’re sitting at your seat it’s a less likely chance you will get distracted. Kids get tired sitting in their chairs and would like to change it up.

If you want to have more seating options and more hands-on activities you should vote for me. This is just the start.

My First Weeks of 5th Grade and What I’m Looking Forward To

Do you remember your first day of school? Well I sure do! It was filled with games, specials and fun. I can’t wait for the new adventures!

This past week I have learned many new things and I have had many new experiences as a fifth grader. One of my favorite things is getting fifth grade privileges and getting to sit next to whoever you want at lunch. It’s nice because you can switch up sitting next to the people you’re usually sitting with. Another thing I enjoyed was working on my identity map. An identity map was a project where we drew and wrote things down that represents yourself. Some of the stuff that I wrote down was Basketball and reading. These are two of my favorite hobbies. I always liked to draw since I was young but it was fun learning a new format you can draw in. My favorite lesson this year was the intro to the Government. I watched I’m just a bill over five times! I’m just a bill sitting on Capitol hill….We learned about the three branches and about how no role has too much power over another. I had so much fun for the first week and can’t wait for the rest of fifth grade.

This year I’m looking forward to field day because it’s one of the things that only fifth graders get to do. Some of the things you do are races and play sports. Also you get hotdogs and other snacks. Another thing I’m excited to do is learn more about the making of a Government and U.S. constitution because social studies is one of my favorite subjects. I started really liking social studies last year in Ms. Teets class specifically during the American revolution unit. We acted it out in some of the scenarios the colonists were in and then we did a report on the American Revolution. I’m excited to learn more about social studies and the U.S constitution. The last thing I’m looking forward to is doing capstone and getting it out of the way. I’m a bit nervous but I think that it will be fun, researching about a topic you’re interested in and doing a report on it.

In conclusion, I can’t wait for the rest of fifth grade. It has been so exciting as a fifth grader and I know there are going to be so much more fun memories. What were some of your favorite activities in fifth grade?

Reading The Weather Reflection

I really enjoyed researching and going down the rabbit hole. I got most of my information on rabbit hole day and think it was pretty successful. Even though. I thought I could of worked on using different data bases and sites instead of you the same four or five sites.

Taking notes was one of my favorite parts in the ignite process. I organized many different ways. One of my favorite note taking strategy was making a web. I started off just writing prevention and safety and making a circle around it and making lines out of my subtopics and putting circles around those I branched out on details. I also used boxes and bullets after doing the web to make it easier when you are writing your narrative and you just have to look down and be able to write with out struggling to understand what you wrote down.

At first I got a bit stumped on how to put or say something. I struggled and finally figured out how I wanted to write it. This was my least favorite step it was lots of adding on and then editing then revising and then taking something out then doing the whole cycle over again.

I enjoyed writing the script. I thought that I struggled the most in having to cut down my two minute narrative into a thirty second script. It challenged me to cut down the parts that did not really make sense but after I cut down a few sentences everything really made sense but I was still at one minute . I had to take at a category off and to make it thirty seconds but it was really hard to pick which one to get rid of. Then I figured out that I was going to do the conclusion. I found that it was easier doing the conclusion the my first or second slide.

I liked rehearsing it made me feel ready. We rehearsed it many different ways. One way we rehearsed was just as a group. Just the five of us. We would wait until it was your slide then you would start doing your speech. Another way we rehearsed was with the whole class. Rehearsing with the whole class made me feel prepared. The final way we rehearsed for the real ignite was independently. Doing it by yourself was productive because you got to do your script many more time with doing it with your class or with your group.

I enjoyed saying my speech. I knew I was ready so I did not feel scared. I thought everyone did a really good job. I do not think I would have changed anything.

At the start I liked working with a group. When we went farther in the project some people in my group told other people to change there work just because they liked it a certain way. It made me think if we kept changing things up it would be harder to memorize are script.

Partner Book Club Reflection

My favorite part of working in a partnership was being able to share ideas with each other and they actually knowing what I’m talking about. My second favorite part was being paired up with my friend so sometimes I could call her and we could work on are jots together.
The most challenging part for me was deciding on the reading. I usually wanted to read 25 pages and she wanted to read 15. So we had to come to a compromise. We ended up usually reading 18-25 pages every night. At the end it was pretty fun working with my friend and working in a book club.
My favorite book that I read with Sophia was “ Ways To Make Sunshine.” It was the most interesting book in my opinion. There were a lot of different characters and a lot of different things happening. Those types of books are my favorite kind of realistic fiction. My least favorite book was “ Meena Meets Her Match.” I didn’t really think anything interesting happened. The most interesting part was when she got seizure but they didn’t make it a big moment it was less then a page!
I think I was pretty good with my jots. I tried to expain my ideas and do different stuff everyday! Like predictions, retells, challenger sidekick and advisor, character web. Story mountain and a lot more stuff! It was sometimes hard to do two or three pages but I usually managed to do one sometimes two or three! At the end I enjoyed to jot.
In the books that I read with Sophia I didn’t really see any mirrors! I didn’t think any of the characters related to me. They all had a completely different life food illnesses and problems. Like in “Meena meets her match she got seizure and I don’t have a sizer. Another thing that is happening is she is in a big fight with her best friend and I am not. I don’t think I ever gotten in a fight with my best friend! Probably because she lives in new jersey and even though she lives in New Jersey I live with her for seven weeks every year and have a lot of play dates with Willa. Another book I can’t relate to is “Sleepover Squad.” Emily is not aloud to have a sleepover and i’m basically aloud to whenever I want. The last book I read with Sophia was “Ways To Make Sunshine.” My favorite book I read. She is moving into a new house well I am not. I there is only one mirror she can’t see her best friend a lot.
I think the most important part of working in a book club is being able to read your jots to someone who actually knows what your talking about, Reading what is agreed upon and being able to know that you will have time to read that much and I think the most important thing of working in a book club partnership is taking turns listening and talking. That’s what I really think is the most important parts of working in a book club partnership.
I learned that I enjoy working with someone. I thought it may be a little worse at first but at the end I actually really liked it. I learned a lot of thing by working in a partnership. I really really liked it!

Expert Book: Women’s College Basketball

I came up with “ Women College Basketball” because I was going to do one all about basketball. Then I decided to do it just with a few popular teams. It took me a few days to come up with Women’s College Basketball! I was watching a Stanford game against another college I do not remember. I think they won 99 to 84! I was expired! Then I did some of the other colleges I knew Pen state, Stanford,  Harvard, USB and Northwestern. In the end I decided to choose Stanford, Harvard and Penn State! I couldn’t wait to start jotting my ideas about each school.

I had to brainstorm the table of contents, chapters, slides, links, paragraphs, pictures and much more! It took me around three to two months doing everything!

A few things were difficult for me. The thing that was the hardest for me was spelling everything correctly! I went over the whole entire book like 10 times! I tried to make it look really good and that meant the spelling should be correct. Another thing was hard was that I had two glossaries and I did the same pictures for both pages so then you can go back to the page you were on after you learned the word. But the pictures had to be at the same spot. That really made me struggle. The last thing that was difficult for me was editing, making everything look good. It was really hard for me!

I needed the most help with glossary linking in my glossary, adding pictures in my glossary and it really just made me struggle.

My favorite part of writing my expert book was just typing. I found it fun just to type what I’ve been working on for months. It was just fun to be putting down on the piece of paper. I like to type and I just like to just let things that I worked on for a long time go on a piece of paper with all my corrections. That was so fun for me!

During the process of writing my expert book. I fingered out that I was a pretty fast typer and liked to put pictures everywhere and add a lot of links. It was a fun, long and exciting process to talk about something that I liked a lot and knew a lot about. It was fun to be adding better and newer stuff to things that I know about. It was really fun.

I learned that I am pretty fast at typing and putting enough words and picture space and much more stuff I tried to fit everything.

I felt amazing about my final project. I loved everything in my books the words, the pictures, the jokes, the links. I felt really good about everything. I felt really proud too. I tried my hardest and it felt really good about every part of the process. It was really fun. Everything that I did in my book I enjoyed. I hoped you liked my book.

This is my expert book.

Thank you for reading!

Maglev Reflection

In are original design are car had four striped magnets all around are train and one donut magnet in the middle. Are train track had two striped magnet and three donut magnets. I think it was really close are first try but what was holding us back was are constraints where we can only use ten magnets. We took away the donut magnets because the striped magnets were really powerful. We put the striped magnets closer to the edge and the train started to levitate!

Are solution was, we used only four magnets, four strp magnets. We put it closer to the edge and it worked it started to levitate! We worked together and when are plans did’t work we did the engineer design process over and over and over until it worked.

The hardest part for me was when we all had to decide what we should do to make it better. I liked that different people in my group liked to do different things so we all got to do what we liked to do. I liked to work with a group i think it was fun!

Personal Narrative Reflection

I think I use really good punctuation. Like when my grandma said “CHARLOTTE come here so we can pay for your ice cream,” or “I can’t wait, we’re only at scoop shop,” we took a sharp turn right with my hands swaying in the air.In every sentence I ether used periods, question marks, exclamation mark and much more.

Probably the hardest thing for me was editing. I liked my story just how it was. But I tried to edit the ending and I think I made it better.

There’s No Bad Gummy

I can’t wait, we’re almost at Scoop Shop!”

We took a sharp turn right with my hands swaying in the air. I pushed open the car door as the car said, “You arrived at your destination.”

I looked left to right with a smile on my face. As we walked across the street my Grandpa said,

“What are you going to get?’’

“Cookies and cream ice cream,” I said.

With a big push on the door I ran to get cookies and cream ice cream before anybody else did.

‘’YES!’’ I said with a big push on the lever. SWISH in a flash it was filled to the top.

Then I went to the toppings table. I took a big scoop of gummy bears while licking my lips.

‘’CHARLOTTE!’’ my grandma called, “Come over so we can pay for your Ice cream.” I hurried over.

“Thanks again for paying for my ice cream,”  I said with my eyes shimmering.

“My pleasure sweety,” my grandma said and handed me my ice cream.

I took a big bite, “YUM!”  So I took another bite. This is heaven I thought. So I took another bite. “EWWWW!” I screamed. I was shocked I didn’t like it! So I decided to investigate. Red,blue  and…

“EWWWW!” I spit out the gummy. While sticking out my tongue. It was an icky, gooey ORANGE GUMMY!

I’m never going to have any gummy bear ever again, I thought. But the next day at my kitchen table,”I can’t believe I was actually going to give up on you, only the orange ones,” I muttered. I grabbed a big handful of gummy bears poking around to see if they were any orange gummy bears. I took a deep breath in and threw a pile of gummy bears into my mouth.

“Uhhhh so good “ and licked my lips.
