Field Trip to Westchester County Government

Did you know that the Westchester  County Government has 17 legislative members? They make laws for Westchester. In this blog post you will learn about how the bills are passed in Westchester County. You will also learn about my favorite thing that I did in the building they work in.

Two things  I learned about the legislative Branch of County government is how the laws are passed in Westchester and how Legislators discuss what to do about people’s wants and needs. They want to know everyone’s opinion because sometimes someone else’s opinion might be better. I learned that the opinion of people changes sometimes. Legislators debate so they know how they’re going to vote. I also learned that when discussing people, opinions will change mostly by words that can change people’s minds. We also learned that yay means yes and nay means no. This was confusing at first but after it made sense. We talked about it when we were at the committee table. The table that I was at, we all thought that schools should not ban reguler clothes because it is religious clothes that they need to put in. We talked about whether they should ban vending machines. I think that they should allow vending machines. Students will get hungry and sometimes don’t have snacks. We also learned about  what county we are in and we are in district five. The population is 18,000 residents that live in scarsdale. We also learned that the population is 967,612 inhabited in Westchester County of all e seventeen County.  We met Benjamin Boykin. We also had an assistant which I don’t remember her name so I will call her an assistant . She guided us to different places around the building. It was very fun exploring the building.

Two things that I enjoyed were being a chair and a legislator. I loved this because we never did this in the past.  The chair is a position kind of like a judge. However, you get to start the meeting and you can hear other people’s opinions that most people don’t hear. It  is very important to help people that live in Westchester County. This is why I loved being the chair because it was interesting how the job works. For example, you had a gavel, and then you can use it to start the meeting or end the meeting. A legislator is someone in the legislative branch who writes laws. I liked being a legislator because I felt like I was important in helping our community.

Now you learned about my legislative county government field trip. You know what I liked. In this blog post you learned about how the bills are passed in Westchester County. You learned about my favorite thing that I did in the building they work in. What would you like about the legislative county government? Would you hate it? Would you like it?

First Week Of 5th Grade

Did you know that the world record number meored was 4 seconds with a 28 digit number. Did you also know that Joey Chestnut was able to eat 83 hot dogs in ten minutes? In this blog, you will learn about the Four fours challenge and the Danger of a Single Story, which I enjoyed. You will also learn about what I’m looking forward to, the Board of Legislatures trip and field day.

The  two things I enjoyed doing were the Four four challenges for the first week of school and Danger of a single story. For the four four challenges we try to use only four 4 numbers that were on the side with multiplication and Division subtraction and addition to equal the number that was 20. This was challenged because most of them were not as easy as others. The reason I liked it was because of how I learned a lot from the Fours fours challenge. The Danger of a single story is about how a single story can make people only believe in that story only. The narrator says that she was guilty for believing only in one story. The reason I like it was because we can learn from her experience with it. She says that storetype are true but they are not complete.

I am looking forward to the legislative and field day this year. The reason I am looking forward to the board of the legislature trip is because it was so interesting how they make laws. The board of legislature is in charge of making laws or bills. Field day is when we eat hot dogs for lunch and face other fifth grade classes in competitions, like racing and tug of war. Field day is also about hot dogs that we have for lunch.

What is your favorite thing in fifth grade. You will also learn about what I’m looking forward to, the Board of Legislatures trip and field day. In this blog, you will learn about the Four fours challenge and the Danger of a Single Story, which I enjoyed.
