This blog post explains how I felt about the 3rd grade state tests for English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. I thought that the ELA test was harder than the Math test.
I feel that the ELA state test are too long, I feel this way because the test took hours. For example, we started taking the test at 9:00 AM and didn’t finish until 12:00. Another reason is that we had to wait for a very long time after we finished the test with nothing to do but read. For example, I finished at 10:00 but had to wait until 12:00 for everybody to be finished before I could do anything.
Preparing for the ELA test was very long and hard, and it was very frustrating because it took a lot of time and we still had a lot of other things too. Also, a lot of the kids were being very distracting and disruptive but somehow, we ended up finishing test prep.
I felt that the math test was shorter and the questions were a bit easier. I feel this way because almost everyone in my class finished by 10:00 and the questions were fair but were not too easy, it was fun to try to figure out some of the questions. We also got to have snack after part 2.
I felt that math test prep was also easier. Because we already knew how it worked, we only took a week and a half. Also, we only had math for the math test. For ELA we had reading and writing.
I felt that the math test was a lot easier than the ELA test because the ELA test was much longer and math is a stronger subject to me than writing about reading. Although they were both hard I thought that the math test was easier than the ELA one.
I thought that although both state tests were challenging but both experiences were sentimental because of the things done to prepare for them and make them a better experience for everyone.
