Fantasy Unit Notes#1 (Percy Jackson)

My book is called The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, all of my friends have begged me with cherries and cookies and every single candy(except for black licorice[which is a big no no for me and my friends]) on top to read the series It is about a boy named Percy Jackson who thinks that he’s normal(except that he got expelled from like, 4 schools, or something like that…)gets a surprising attack from his teacher, Mrs. Dodds. Her “eyes began to glow like barbecue coals”, her fingers turned into talons, her jacket melted into leathery wings, and her teeth sprouted into yellow fangs. Oh, and she was about to slice Percy into ribbons. Sorry about that…I’ll just going to leave you hanging there. Your going to have to read the book, I know, how evil of me… Anyway, here are some jots on the book:

Characters:

  • Percy Jackson

-Logical-When he was fighting Mrs.Dodds(A.K.A a monster[I know that it’s harsh, but come on people!!!! The author wants us to hate Mrs.Dodds, as bad as that sounds…]), Mr. Brunner, another one of Percy’s teachers threw him a pen, however, at the exact moment when the pen hit his hand, it turned into a bronze sword, the next thing he knew, Mrs. Dodds was charging at Percy, he did the only logical thing, he swung the sword. It hit Mrs. Dodd’s shoulder, and she*-oh wait…I shouldn’t tell you the story, should I? Fine… *exploded into yellow powder and vaporized right there on the spot.

-Curious-After the incident with Mrs. Dodds(which I’m sure you all remember very clearly, it’s not something very easy to forget…), everyone seemed to forget who Mrs.Dodds was. Instead, there was Mrs. Kerr, everyone except Grover, Percy’s best friend, who kept hesitating whenever Mrs. Dodds or Mrs. Kerrs came up. And of course, Percy noticed. So he kept asking over and over again to see if he or any other people would spill it. Also, after school, he happened to hear Grover and Mr. Brunner talking about him, and he started eavsdropping on them, hearing them talk about his “unusualness”, but obviously, he didn’t know that yet(C’mon!!! I know I’m talking fast, but try to keep up, will ya?!?!).

Overall, Percy Jackson has many traits, some good some bad, but the good lead him through the maze of mischief, treachery, and Olympus mythology. But, this isn’t last time you’ve heard from Percy Jackson…Keep your mythological ears perked…(But before the next Percy Jackson post, you’ll probably see the Capstone blog #4, but keep your ears perked up anyway…)
