Vote For Me

Joshua Keh your voice your way! If you don’t already know from the previous sentence, my name is Joshua Keh and you may be wondering “what is this for?” and I would say to you.. That I am running for class President! A few things that you should know about me is that I will always keep to my promises, I will never look down upon other people and I will NEVER EVER lie to you!

The first thing that I would change at Heathcote would be the whole entire fifth grade lunch system. Now you may be thinking that everything is perfect because we have fifth grade privilege, but you would be wrong because we don’t even have that! We also have to raise our hand to get up just to throw out a piece of tin foil! And if we want to use the bathroom we first have to raise our hand and wait a few minutes for someone to let us get up. then we need to walk up to an aid who has bathroom passes because without them we can’t use the bathroom. And sometimes they are even out of passes so we have to wait even longer and by the time we get to the bathroom lunch is basically over! If you vote for me I will make it so that you do not need bathroom passes and if you need to then you can just get up and throw your things out.

The second change I would make would be the fifth grade specials. Although we have the same specials as everyone else we only have them at 8:50 in the morning!Which is 15 minutes after school starts! I would make it so that the specials would be spread out because sometimes we need a break and a special would be a great time to take one. For example, say I would make it so that we have art at 1:45 or PE at 11:00  And I don’t know about you but I do not want to run a mile basically right when school starts.

In conclusion, you should vote for me because I will change the lunch system, and I will change the specials schedule for the better! Vote Joshua Keh for a better day!

Board of Legislators

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK goes the gavel. “This meeting shall now start” I say because I got to be the judge! I had lots of cool lines, I had a cool chair, and I had the power to call on whoever I wanted! When we were discussing your topic “ should schools sell candy and soda in vending machines”. That was just one of the many fun things that we did in the Board of Legislators in White Plains!

I had so much fun on the board of legislators trip! It was so hard to pick but I will talk about my top three things that we did.  By far my favorite part of the field trip to the board of legislators was the mock court session. They randomly selected a person to be the judge and that was me. So it was very fun for me because I got to sit in a big chair and call on people when we were discussing our debate, “Should schools have junk food or soda or candy in vending machines”. I said yes and they should because it is the kids choice to buy something even if it is unhealthy. For example if they had a healthy lunch then they can treat themselves to a treat, and it costs money so it is the parents choice if they want to send their kids to school with lunch money and money for the vending machines. Plus the school does not force them to buy stuff. Another really fun thing that happened was meeting Benjamin Boykin II. One thing that was really fun about meeting him was the fact that sometimes he is not there so we were very lucky to meet him. And he used to be the chairman! If you don’t know what a chairman is, it is basically the lead of the legislators.

One thing that I learned about the government while on the trip to The Board of Legislators was there are about one million people in Westchester! This absolutely blew my mind! There are even twenty THOUSAND people in scarsdale! To me this was so crazy because I never realized how big Westchester is population wise. I also learned that the first chairman is about to be 100 years old in 2025. That means that he will be alive for a CENTURY!

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK goes the gavel. “This case is now adjourned” I say. In conclusion, the trip to the Board of Legislators in White Plains was a super fun trip and I hope to go back in the future.
