Feature Article Blog Post

Imagine you just finished your writing project that you’ve been working on for 2 months and then your tech teacher tells you you’ve formatted everything incorrectly. Now, you have to change  most things that you’ve done. How frustrating is that! Well, that’s how I felt when it came to formatting my feature article. Read to find out more about my chaotic troubles and what I enjoyed most.

One thing I I enjoyed most about writing my feature article was writing my topic sentences. What I found most challenging was writing my conclusion. I enjoyed writing my topic sentences the most because it was simple and it was enjoyable to create a hook. For example,  one of my hooks is “You might be wondering if you played softball, what position could you play? Well there are 3 sections and many positions in those sections. Those sections are called infield, outfield and pitcher/catcher.” There are two parts of a topic sentence.The first part of the hook is,  You might be wondering if you played softball, what position could you play? This part is the hook.The hook has to meet the requirements of entertaining your reader. While on the other hand the 2nd part has to meet the requirements of giving your reader a list of things you are going to talk about.The second part should sound something like this “ Well there are 3 sections and many positions in those sections. Those sections are called infield, outfield and pitcher/catcher.)

I found the conclusion most challenging because we had to recommend how to learn more about the topic we choose.This was challenging because there weren’t really any websites to recommend to the reader. Which made my conclusion not so strong but besides from that my conclusion turned out pretty good.Heres a sneak peak of what it sounds like. “Now you know everything about softball such as the positions of softball, what to pack and the difference between softball and baseball.Now that you learned all about softball I encourage you to play and take action in the fun sport. If you play, what position will you play?”

Know that you know all about chaotic troubles and what I enjoyed most. I encourage you to try to make a feature article about your favorite topic. If you make a future article what would you make yours about?

Reading the Weather Reflection

Research went really well for me except for rabbit hole day because I didn’t know what to research because there were so many important things but I wanted to wait for my part. At first I looked at books but found nothing but then I looked on Google and found two videos. After watching them I felt set. One of the easiest parts was the search titles. It was a little hard watching the video because they talked really fast and I barely knew any words.

 After watching the videos I wrote every single word in my notebook in paragraphs. Then I crossed out some information and replaced it. Writing in paragraphs went really well for me.I felt really confident in it. Although I was worried I wouldn’t want to change it.I also felt like I was missing a lot of information but I double checked and I had it all.

I struggled writing my narrative. The hardest part was rephrasing. Next time I wish I would have taken a deep breath and slowed down. One other hard part was combining both of the videos, since I really liked the words they did. To solve my struggle I asked my teacher to fix up my narrative. Since I just watched two videos I was  way ahead l wish I would of slowed down and got more information.

I decided my narrative was good enough so I kept my narrative. I did change it a little though. 

After getting my script it only took me ten minutes to memorize it probably because l used a  certain method. Although when l practiced in the auditorium l messed up one word and l could not get back on the right track.I felt like I was going to do that when all the parents were watching.  

I was very shaky although I knew l was going to do great because I have been on stage before in front of more people watching. Next time l wish l would have added a catch to the intro to try and get some joyful laughter.Over all though l think I did really good. So did everyone else because I worried that if someone in the group messed up it would be a disaster.

I worked really well with my group.  I feel like my group was better in the beginning because we were focused, then after writing our scripts we just goofed around and did not practice and couldn’t get any work done. I would of rather been in the Blizzard group but I think I worked better with Tornadoes. I also wanted intro but I was glad someone else got it.

My Reflection on the Process:

I chose to write about and study electronics and the effect of screen time on kids. It was important to me because in the future we would not want this to happen to anyone because we can stop. Something that was hard for me was the video recording:

1: you had to make sure there was no background noise  

2: You had to put it in a short period of time

3: you had to make your videos 

My first topic was saving electricity but, I realized that I was going to electronics and why kids spend to much time on them.I also new a lot about this topic. Something I liked was adding photos. I got to chose what looked good. I also leaned from the photos. I felt good with the finale product. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

 

My Essay on Electronics

My opinion is that too many kids spend too much time on screens. Too much time on screens causes many horrible things.One reason it’s bad  is because children are so busy spending time on their electronics, they don’t have time to do anything else. For example, kids aren’t reading. There’s a ‘read to me option’ on electronics. In kindergarten I hated reading so I would always use the read to me option. This didn’t help me become a stronger reader. Another example is kids aren’t spending time with their family during meals. It’s bad because this is the time when kids can talk to their parents because they are working. My teacher told me that they ate every single meal at the table with no electronics.  Lastly, kids aren’t learning family traditions.  Sure they could learn about it online, but it won’t be a special family tradition. They won’t be a part of making,keeping the tradition. Screen time is extremely bad for kids, especially young ones.

 

Another reason is that too much screen time could cause health issues, especially for kids who might have weak immune systems. Believe me, most kids are ecstatic about screen time. However, staring at the screen stresses out the brain and causes headaches. Also maybe you are wondering why so many people are wearing blue lite glasses? Well it’s because kids’ eyes are getting strained from staring at electronic screens. Let me tell you one last thing. You kids might think sitting on the couch is comfortable and all, but you might be gaining too much weight. Being overweight is not healthy. Screen time should be a privilege.If you have too much it could be  bad.

 

Another reason too much screen time is bad is because kids aren’t going outside enough. You may be thinking there’s nothing outside but there is plenty. Believe me kids aren’t going outside and making friends and connecting with people. If you make a friend you can play with them. You may be thinking, what’s better than electronics? Something we should all desire is nature. Nature gives you fresh air and it’s healthy and calming. Lastly, not getting enough exercise is bad. Kids need exercise because it’s good for the brain and body.

Infographic on Serbia

I choose to study Serbia because my grandparents used to live there. I also wanted to compare it then and now. I know some parts were poor and some were rich. My favorite part about doing it was adding pictures. Finding images that supported my words was pretty easy.I learned that a infographic is something that’s easy to read and has amazing information. It was hard to know what to add in and what was not important. There were a lot of steps. It was harder than I expected. I felt good about it. I wanted to fill up every little space but I figured I didn’t need it. Hope you learned some interesting facts.
