Vote For Me

Have you ever thought “Oh man! I wish Heathcote would fix these problems!” If you did, then I know who you should vote for me to be class president. Hi, I’m Jacob and I am running for class president. I will be very determined and will listen to any of your ideas. If you want to learn more about what I’m going to do, get ready to read about it!

Do you want to know a very disappointing part of the day? To me it’s the end of quiet time going off while you’re in the middle of something. It’s very annoying. I want to change that and make quiet time fifteen minutes every time instead of five to ten minutes. For example, when you’re doing something and you thought it was over to do it, you’ll be happy to see that it’s not over yet! This will mean more progress in your time of peace and fun. If you agree with me, I’ll make it happen and rearrange the schedules. I will find a way to make it fifteen minutes. But that’s not the only change I will make.

The second thing I will change is outside seating. Have you ever been in a rush outside because of the reclining chairs? Well I have! When I don’t get the chairs it is very uncomfortable for me because it hurts my back when sitting on the cushion. I remember when I gave my seat up for another person and when I sat on the cushion they were sitting on, I wondered how uncomfortable they must’ve been. My plan for this is that any flexible seating that doesn’t get used can get used by other people outside (even when it’s not their day to use it.) This will change a lot of flaws, especially sore backs!

These things are just a little bit of what I’m going to do for 5CL. If you vote for me I will try to make these things happen. Quiet time and outside groups will be more pleasurable. If these are not the only things you want to be fixed I am happy to take suggestions. If I win, what would you request for me to do?

Bananas about the Board of Legislators

“Wow!” Me and my classmates said in shock as we stepped into the looming chamber room. It felt like walking into a whole new world! I sat down on a chair at the back of the room and admired the chamber. It was a big, fancy room with fancy chairs, desks and microphones. A big chair and desk was at the other end, and it looked super cool. This room is a place where meetings are held and we were going to have a meeting here. This was one of the many cool things I did at the Board of Legislators building in White Plains. I also learned some cool things too. Get ready to read about the fun experiences and shocking facts I learned and had.

The Board of Legislators trip was really fun and I think I have a few favorite parts of the trip. One of my favorite parts was hitting the gavel. It made me feel like I had a lot of power at my fingertips. It was also so fun to slam the gavel onto a little wood slab, because it made a nice sound. I thought case dismissed! Thank you for coming! I watch a superhero TV show, and there are a lot of trials in the show, so being in a trial made me feel super cool. It was fun, but I also really liked the mock meeting because it is fun to debate topics. Also, there wasn’t much controversy, because we all voted that students shouldn’t be required to wear any school uniform. Although my favorite thing I did there was talking into the mic in the chamber. For some reason, hearing my voice in a speaker live is so fun for me. Sometimes I got too close to the mic and it was loud, and I said “I THINK THAT-” and it was too loud. I thought R.I.P somebody’s ear canals! That was louder than a smoke alarm! So, I put the mic a bit farther from me and it got less loud. These things were so fun, but this trip wasn’t all experience, because I learned some pretty cool stuff.

I actually learned a lot there, so get ready to read some mind blowing facts. The first one is that there are seventeen districts in Westchester. You might be thinking, why? I also thought that when I first heard that there are seventeen districts in Westchester. I said “Why seventeen?” The reason is smart though, making it one of my favorite facts I learned. There’s seventeen districts in Westchester so there isn’t a tie in a voting, because odd numbers can’t be evenly split. Smart, right? That was my favorite fact, but I have some other facts I like. A fact I liked was that there’s twenty thousand people in Scarsdale. This makes me so surprised because I didn’t think Scarsdale was THAT big. I always drive by a lot of houses in Scarsdale and I thought I knew the town well, but now I feel like I barely know scarsdale. When I heard that I was like wow! Is Scarsdale that big? I thought I knew it better than the back of my hand! That fact shocked me, but not as much as the next fact I’m going to talk about. The fact is that the first chairman in Westchester is about to be 100! This really shocked me, because being 100 I can imagine would be a huge milestone, one that some people don’t get to. In conclusion, I thought these facts were all surprising and unique.

In summary, this trip was awesome. I got to do and learn so many things that I’ve never heard or done. This trip had its funny moments, too. This was a great trip that I will definitely remember. But how would you feel if you were going to a legislative building? What do you think you would like the most?
