Vote For Me

Have you ever thought “Oh man! I wish Heathcote would fix these problems!” If you did, then I know who you should vote for me to be class president. Hi, I’m Jacob and I am running for class president. I will be very determined and will listen to any of your ideas. If you want to learn more about what I’m going to do, get ready to read about it!

Do you want to know a very disappointing part of the day? To me it’s the end of quiet time going off while you’re in the middle of something. It’s very annoying. I want to change that and make quiet time fifteen minutes every time instead of five to ten minutes. For example, when you’re doing something and you thought it was over to do it, you’ll be happy to see that it’s not over yet! This will mean more progress in your time of peace and fun. If you agree with me, I’ll make it happen and rearrange the schedules. I will find a way to make it fifteen minutes. But that’s not the only change I will make.

The second thing I will change is outside seating. Have you ever been in a rush outside because of the reclining chairs? Well I have! When I don’t get the chairs it is very uncomfortable for me because it hurts my back when sitting on the cushion. I remember when I gave my seat up for another person and when I sat on the cushion they were sitting on, I wondered how uncomfortable they must’ve been. My plan for this is that any flexible seating that doesn’t get used can get used by other people outside (even when it’s not their day to use it.) This will change a lot of flaws, especially sore backs!

These things are just a little bit of what I’m going to do for 5CL. If you vote for me I will try to make these things happen. Quiet time and outside groups will be more pleasurable. If these are not the only things you want to be fixed I am happy to take suggestions. If I win, what would you request for me to do?

Use more public transportation

This idea didn’t come first because I thought there wouldn’t be much about this topic. But soon I realized that public transportation can solve some of our problems!

When I was writing my speech I liked how I kept on revising and making my writing better.

The hardest thing about writing it was probably the introduction. The introduction is hard to write because you need to hook the reader and make them interested.

I felt like it has hard to record the video because you only had 30 seconds to record on one slide, so I had to go pretty fast.

Expert Book: Bowling

This is how I came up with my idea: first, we had these pieces of paper where we wrote what subjects we knew a lot about. We wrote stuff like collections of things we had, sports we play, topics we like and etc. Then we picked which three things we wanted to write about most. I was going to write about fish, but I wrote about them last year. So I went with bowling.

What was a little bit hard for me was mostly finding a good picture for my book. I did struggle on other things, too. One example is I had a hard time coming up with an introduction.

The process of making my book was this: 1 – make a subject idea. 2 – write chapters and subheadings. 3 – write the expert book in my RRJ. 4 – type it on the computer. 5 – revise. 6 – revise for the last time.

My favorite part was when we showed our expert books to our parents. I’m glad they got to see all of our hard work.

I think what I learned about myself is that I know more about bowling than I thought.

I feel proud on my expert book because I put a lot of effort into it and it turned out great!

This is my expert book.

Thank you for reading!

Personal Narrative Reflection

I am proud of my lead and ending because I think they were strong and would attract the reader. I also think that I used a lot of good describing words like latched. I think I improved my story writing.

One thing I didn’t like was I think I didn’t add a lot of dialogue. I also thought it was hard to make up different endings.

But overall, I think my personal narrative was great.

The Monsterous Trout

The chill breeze whistled as the motor growled. I checked the fish sonar. Little clouds of bait fish looked like a peaches skin color.

I walked to the fishing rods. I wonder when I’ll catch another fish, I thought.

I sat down on one of the seats on the boat. I picked up my mom’s purse and my hand found its way to her phone. I gazed at the photos of the pictures of trout I mostly caught. “When do you think I will catch another fish?,” I asked my mom.

“I don’t know,” my mom answered back.

I took a long breath of the crispy air. Wiggle wiggle! “Something is on one of the rods!,” Fishermen 1 cried.

I scrambled to the rods, found the wiggling one, and started to twirl the reel. The fish fought back good, but I didn’t give up easily!

My heart was pounding hard. Reeeeeeeeeeeeel! I spun the reel so hard I thought it would fly off!

After 5 minutes of fighting, I saw the lore charging at us. Now, the lore was 5 feet away from the boat when Fishermen 2 retrieved the fish. It had shimmering silver scales and light brownish markings. The fish thrashed around as the fishermen clicked it onto the fish holder.

“Wow!,” I said in wonder.

Flip flip! “This fish is huge!,” my mom said in amazement.

“Oh my god!,” Fishermen 2 said “this is a fishing olympics winning fish!”

I held out the monstrous trout as my mom took lots of pictures. “Now, let’s release this fish,” Fishermen 1 said calmly.

I handed over the fish and he unclipped the giant trout and it splashed into the water. He was motionless for a while, but then he started moving.

He swam into the abyss where nobody could see him. A peaceful smile formed on my face. My heart was flooding with joy as a happy feeling latched onto me.
