Personal Narrative – The Water Slide

“Today’s the day!” I said. “Dad, can we go to the water slide, finally? PLEASE!?”

“Yeah, we’ll go later,” said my dad.

“I can’t wait until later!” I shouted. “Can we go now?”

“Oh alright, Jake,” dad said. “Go get your bathing suit on.”

I ran to the bedroom and got changed as quickly as possible. “Ready to go,” I yelled racing back into the kitchen.

A few minutes later, we headed out to go to the water slide. When we got there the slide I looked up, and up and up, until my eyes reached the top. “Wow, that is really tall,” I thought to myself, even more excited than before. We ran to the bottom of the stairs and I saw a sign that said, “you must be 48 inches tall to ride this ride.”

“Good thing I’m 49 inches, dad” I said pointing to the sign.

“Then, let’s go!” dad said and we started to climb the stairs.

Finally we were at the top. The lifeguard up there looked at us and said, “you need a tube!”

“We have to go all the way back down?” I asked, disappointed.

“Guess so,” dad replied. We headed back down the stairs, grabbed a tube and hustled back up the stairs.

“Finally it is our turn!” I said happily. I stepped into the little pool of water and all of a sudden I got the chills. The water was so cold! Dad put the tube behind me and we sat down.

The lifeguard pointed at me and said, “you need to sit in the front.” I moved to the front and held onto the handles tightly.

“GO!” shouted the lifeguard, and gave us a big push. We went down so fast! I felt the wind blowing on me as we raced to the bottom.

“This is so fun!’ I yelled as water splashed all over us.

Water  came from the side and sprayed on us then it poured on us.There were so many twists and turns that I thought I was going to fall out of the tube.

We were finally reaching the end when cold water poured on us and we cannon balled into a 12 foot pool at the bottom of the slide. I held my breath under water for 5 seconds before I popped my head up and asked,  “Can we go again?”

“Maybe,” said dad, as he walked to get a towel and dry off.
