This phase of the project was the most fun for me. It was the most fun for me because it was wrapping everything up and I could see the final product of all the hard work I put into this Capstone Project. I made a video and I am very happy with the way it came out. I had a lot of information which is why I chose to do the video, because you can have the longest presentation with a video.
The question that I based most of my research on is, “Why are axolotls endangered and what can we do to stop their extinction?” Unfortunately, axolotls are becoming endangered. This is happening because the one lake where they live in Mexico city is being polluted by humans. This is very problematic for the axolotls as they breathe through their skin. Pollution really hurts them. Lake Xochimilco is also being built over and humans are introducing invasive species, such as tilapia, which are causing axolotls to decrease in numbers. If something isn’t done soon, the axolotls could face extinction.
I enjoyed writing the essay because I knew once it was done, I would have my narrative for the script. The most challenging part of the essay was putting all of my bulleted notes into sentences and paragraphs. I didn’t use all my notes, I had to choose which ones worked best for the essay.
My Capstone Essay: capstone essay Luke
I chose a movie because if I chose a Ted talk or an ignite, my narration would be too long and I wouldn’t be able to say everything I wanted to. The movie allowed you to have a longer presentation which I wanted. Another reason is I could perfect it for the final product and not have to memorize anything. I would be nervous to do a Ted Talk or Ignite and speak in front of a group of people. That is why I chose to do a movie. I think it came out great. Script Template – Capstone
After I wrote my Capstone Essay, I put a lot of it into my script. Once my script was done, I added pictures to my slides. I enjoyed adding the pictures the most because I could add whatever I wanted to and that allowed me to be creative with the images. For example, my slide on how the axolotl can regrow limbs, I found a really cool chart that I used as the supporting image. The most challenging part of the movie was that each slide only allowed 6 seconds of narration. This was hard for me because I had a lot to say, so that made me have a lot of slides. It was also challenging finding a different image for each slide, because I had so many.
In Conclusion, this phase of Capstone has been my favorite. It was the most challenging, but also the most rewarding phase in my opinion. I am very happy with the final product and I really enjoyed Capstone as a whole.
