Today is almost the last day of tech and I am super sad that is is ending. Tech is by far the best quarterly in 6th grade and I dont want to leave. I’ve really enjoyed making my solder person, my self-driving car game and my flashlight. I will miss Mr. Calvert!!!

Solder Person -7
A while ago I made a tiny person made out of metal in tech class. We did this to learn ho to solder metal. We had to cut a piece of hard wire and shape it into the shape of a body. Then we got a separate piece to mold the arms. When we shaped all of our pieces we soldered the arms and the body together!!!
Self-Driving Car Game-6
A while ago we started working on a self-driving-car-game and it has been very fun. I have just finished my third switch and I enjoyed working on my switches. I will post a video of my completed game when its completely done! (Click on this link to watch a video on it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AVJgJ4OcVY
Circuits -5
Yesterday in class we made beginner circuits. We made them really simple with batteries, wires, a switch and a light bulb. At first my circuit wasn’t working but I thought I had done everything right; so I got a multi-meter and measured the voltage of my battery. After finding out my battery was dead I turned on the switch and it worked! I really enjoyed building this circuit! Here is my circuit:
Multi-Metres -4
Yesterday we learned how to use multi-metres to measure the direct voltage of batteries. The multi-meter is not only used to measure direct voltage. Voltage is the electrical pressure of the electrical source. You use it by getting the red wire and connecting it into the positive side of the battery and getting the black wire and connecting it into the negative side of the battery. Then you discover the voltage!
Atoms Size -3
Yesterday we learned about atoms and while we were talking about the atoms we wondered how small they were. Did you know that if you had a grapefruit full of atoms you would have to make it the size of planet earth to be able to see the atoms? And if you did that each atom would only be the size of a blueberry! That’s crazy right? And even if now you could see the atom you would still need to make that blueberry the size of a football stadium to be able to see the nucleus. (Nucleus = the center of the atom, made of protons and neutrons.) Did you know that even if an atom was the size of a football stadium the nucleus would be the size of a marble! That’s how small atoms are!
Breakout EDU -2
Today, in tech class we did an activity that is called Breakout EDU. It is a very fun activity where there is a box with 2 locks and you have to try and open them with the clues given. This activity is not only fun but we also learned to listen to everyone’s ideas. We had a bit of trouble in the beginning but then we figured it out. Overall this was a very fun activity to do in class and I think we all enjoyed it!
The Design Thinking Process -1
Hi, I just started technology in my new quarter and I am enjoying it so far. Yesterday we learned something called the design thinking process which I thought was very smart. It is a process that helps you create a solution for a problem. I thought it was very interesting because I never knew that to create a new invention, it is easier to do it step by step.
