We had a unit in reading called,” Reading the Weather, Reading the World.” We had to find a specific research question about a certain Extreme weather. For example, I did ,” What do you do to prepare for a flood? ” for my topic, floods. We had to research, write a narrative based on the research , and then organize the narrative into the script. We had a week to do each, and then after that we had a 6 days to memorize the script and put together the slides. So in total, we spent about a whole month trying to put together the presentation. The slides auto-advance every fifteen seconds, and we had seven slides. That meant we had 1 min 45 seconds to tell all the stuff we wanted to say.
Some of the things that were challenging for me are paraphrasing and getting up there and actually saying it to the audience.Paraphrasing was hard because I didn’t want to change the author’s original words which always sounded so polished. It was hard to get up there and actually say it to the audience because I didn’t want to mess up in front of them and then that would be embarassing. The thing that I felt like I was best at is memorizing because i felt like once I knew the overall knowledge
Some of my feelings that I had before i started this project was that this project would be impossible and it wouldn’t be the least bit fun. But know that I’ve finished this project, I feel like I want to something similar again in the future.
it’s been really fun and i want to do it again in fifth grade.
