Interview Reflection

The key to have a great interview is to be confident and calm. I had a great time during my interview. I learned a lot of information that I couldn’t find online. Here are my favorite questions and answers.

My favorite question and answer was, what was the most unusual makeup look you have ever done. She told me that one time for a TV show she had to make twins look different. This was very unusual in my opinion. Another favorite answer and question of mine was when I asked her how does she feel about the online makeup tutorials, she said that only sometimes she likes them because they usually have a lot of steps and she thinks that it’s very hard to do a lot of steps every day. She told me that a lot of people have came into her salon before and asked for a very long makeup look that was online.

I interviewed Devra who works at a makeup and spa salon. I was so nervous to do it and at first, I felt awkward and I thought that I was asking her too many questions. She turned out to be very nice and she seemed very comfortable which made me feel a lot better. She told me that she love doing people’s makeup and when she was done she loved seeing their smiles on their faces.

I had 12 questions that my mom and I looked over many times, she also suggested that we should do a role play where I would ask her my interview questions. This way of practicing was very good for me because I kept stuttering and my mom helped me got over that.

The person who I interviewed, Devra said that she would usually do wedding makeup or just normal everyday makeup, also party makeup that you would wear out to parties.

She said her least favorite part of her job was wearing her mask all day and having to stand all day. Since Corona Virus, she said that she isn’t able to see customers faces so it’s a bit hard to do makeup on them that will suit them without seeing there face.

When Devra and I were on Face Time for our interview she got to take off her mask because she went into a different room. She was in the salon when we were on Face Time, it seemed like she was so relieved when she took off her mask. It seemed like she had wore it for hours with no breaks.

I had 16 questions to ask her and it took me 32 minutes. I was screen recording on my I Pad and my mom was voice recording on hr phone in case it ended up not recording. I also had notes in my hand in case I wanted to jot something down.

The key to having a great interview is to engage in the conversation and be prepared to change things and record and, jot down things.
