“We will be making immigration projects” After my teachers said that I jumped up with excitement. I have been hearing about this project since third grade I was so excited to start! I didn’t know how my video would turn out… (fast forward about one and a half months) click, I submitted my project, so proud of what I accomplished. Although there were so many steps my final video turned out just what I imagined it to be.
The first step was the interview. Prior to the interview their were many steps. At the beginning our teachers talked to us about what we were going to be doing and gave us an overview on the project. First, we made our interview questions. I made about 15 questions. I mostly wanted to know the process and how he felt about it, so I based my questions on that. A strategy that helped me was to make open questions only. It helped get the right amount of information out of my interviewee. I did my interview in person. When conducting my interview, I filmed it so I could look back on it later on to answer my questions. My interview went pretty well. I got more information out of my interviewee than I expected. I learned that when conducting an interview you need to expect anything, you can’t tell them that what you wanted to hear was answered. Although we had all of these steps, it was worth it. I learned so much about my interviewee that I never knew before! For example, I didn’t know how he felt during this time. Overall, I think this was a great experience which I learned so much from.
After the interview and a few short steps we started the actual project. The. Video. I was so excited! Some things were tricky, like, cutting pictures to the exact right size. Also, making sure you don’t go over the time limit for your video. While some things came easier like, finding good pictures. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. First I did my voice over where I said my script, which I made previously. Then, I found the photos for my video. Finally I added some finishing touches, like music. I didn’t know that you can make pictures move; It really adds quality to your video. I am really proud of my finished product, especially the photos.
Looking back, I feel that I hit every check point. Although some parts were a little rough I finally got where I wanted to be. At the finish line, and happy with my project.
