Capstone is a project that consists of research and questions. There were challenges and exciting things during this project, it was also an opportunity to learn lots about a topic you have rather interest in.

The challenges during this project were finding websites, because some repeated information and it was hard to find exclusive information other websites didn’t repeat. It was also a challenge to come up with a main inquiry question, both/most of the challenges occurred during the beginning of the project, supposing the question was either too broad, too narrow or doesn’t have the best wording. One of the other worries was if there was absolutely no information that matches your main inquiry question, so you would have to re-do it. The reason I picked a movie is because I would be nervous to stand up, memorize the script, then present it in front of parents and kids. The exciting part was getting an interview. It might have been stressful with the time limit but it was fun to contact a professional and get information that is specially qualified by professionals.

I chose Astronomy because I have interest in this topic, I had many questions and have studied this topic in the past. Because I studied this in the past, I would have a head start on the information and research. I had broad and narrow questions which I changed in the process of Capstone researching and sub questions. The challenges when I chose this is because choosing between many topics I had lots of interest in was hard, I had to choose between researching an interesting type of music and astronomy, because I had more information for a head start on astronomy, I chose it.

Overall, Capstone is a fun and interesting project.

The purpose of our interview is to maybe check off information you’re not sure about, collect more information and ask questions. I personally thought finding an interview could be useful because of the reasons I stated earlier in the paragraph. It’s easier to clarify information you’re not sure about, it wipes the fear of wrong information and it’s overall just super fun to talk to a specialist who knows lots of stuff about your topic where you could get information that you’ve never heard of. Therefore, my feelings about the interview are that it is fun and that the purpose is reasonable and great.

I was looking through my websites I would use for research because I had a website saved, it’s banner title was “Ask an Astronomer”  so there were links to professional professors or students who specialize and it linked their gmail. So I could interview them by email. The easy part was the emailing because she responded quickly and the challenging part was finding one because it took a while to find that part of the website and took a while to choose out of the many professors.

My experience was pretty easy, because like explained, I had found the interview off a website I got information from for my research, it went alright by email. Because all I had to do was take my interview questions and type them by email and get them answered.

Therefore, my interview went as expected and well. Interviews have a good purpose.

Capstone is a project where you research any topic you choose. First, we have to find a topic then a main inquiry question that matches our topic. We research the main inquiry question which is why it is extremely important not to make the question too broad or too narrow.

I came up with the topic Astronomy because I’m rather interested in it. I also had many questions that were too broad, but haven’t been answered. So I took my broad questions and picked one, then narrowed it down. The main reason that I chose Astronomy  is because I had interest in it.

I came up with my main inquiry question mostly because of all the broad questions I had for my topic. And the questions had almost no way of being answered. “How big is the universe?” so and so. I picked a specific broad question that I liked the most and narrowed it down and got something that was still broad, but way better. “What would happen if an asteroid hit the sun? Would it just melt?” and then I checked over it 1 more time and got the final question. “How does the sun affect asteroids in our galaxy?”. The challenges while coming up with my main inquiry question was to find a way to narrow it down, it was hard to come up with words that would make the question easier to research and overall give more information about my topic.

I took my main inquiry question and thought of more narrow questions. It was hard to get all 5 because the first two were the easiest. And as soon as I was done with the “simple” questions, I needed harder but still narrow questions. The first sub question was something basic for an outline such as “what are asteroids? Where can they be found in our galaxy?” and the second one is sort of a follow up to my old main inquiry question. “Do asteroids impact the sun? What is the result?”.

Overall, I think Capstone is a fun, interesting, project.
