Ever wonder what is it like to go to the Board of Legislators, and experience being a legislator by having two mock meetings? Well, you’ll learn my experience of my three favorite things I did on my trip to the Board of Legislators and two very interesting things I learned (in my opinion)
At the field trip to the Board of Legislatures, I had three favorite moments that I had were the conference room, the chamber, and getting certificates. Moreover, in the conference room my group talked about wearing school uniforms and the majority said no.
Afterwards, in the chamber, the class voted on an item which is banning junk food in the school (it’s a mock vote) and we get to speak in the microphones! Lastly, when we got our certificates we also got golden apple pins (the ones that you wear on your shirt). It was like a week before I showed my mom and she showed me her certificates that she got from the legislators and she had one like mine but they spelt my moms name wrong, I thought why!?
When I was on my trip I learned a lot of things but my most interesting fact in my opinion is there were more than 1.5 m people in Westchester because I was surprised when I learned that, I thought there are only about 100,000 people in Westchester. Another fact that I found out was there were something called clerks they make sure everyone was there like when you’re in school the teacher calls attendance, they basically do that. Overall I learned a ton of facts but those two were my favorite facts.
In conclusion you now know about my experience to the Board of Legislators and what I learned. Like doing a mock vote and meating a real legislator. If you went to the Board of Legislators what would be your top three favorite parts about the Board of Legislators?
