The Art of Information Writing

This unit builds upon what the students have learned as writers of information in 2nd grade. It is centered on a certain type of  writing. The goal is to create a well structured, expert writing piece. During the unit, the students will look at many mentor texts which will provide students with an idea of what a well-written informational writing piece looks like. The boys and girls will learn to write introductions, include text features, and organize their information into chapters. The class will also be taught many different ways to elaborate on their topics.
