What are you waiting for?
“What are you waiting for?” I ask myself this question all the time. I can usually answer it pretty quickly with one excuse, or another. Now, I am asking colleagues this question more and more–about jumping into a unit of study, working on small group instruction and conferring, collaborating with other colleagues, working on their own writing, etc. Like me, they can answer fairly quickly with one excuse, or another as well.
One of my colleagues has been asking me about my own writing and blogging for the last year. You can imagine that I have been able to put her off with so many excuses. Enough. It is time for me to jump in and get this going.
I must admit that I am completely unsure about where this is heading. I have a lot of ideas floating in my head and, hopefully this will be a place for me to explore those ideas and get valuable feedback. In the process, if a definite focus emerges–great. If not, maybe this blog will be a space to unpack my brain and heart so that I have spaces to refill, revive, and revise.
This is the point where I would normally delete this entire post and keep my blog empty for another year. So, here it goes–my adventure in blogging begins. I’m out of excuses, and if I am going to suggest that students and colleagues blog, I better be ready to do it myself.
