Today in school we read a Time For Kids article called Taking a Stand. It states that a school in San Rafael, California is using standing decks instead of sitting desks. These believe that this is a much better method. I disagree. Continue reading to learn more and hear my opinion!
Capstone Blogpost #5: Answering My Main Inquiry Question
In this Capstone blog post, I will be answering my main inquiry question. If you don’t know, my main inquiry question is:
What does Caring For Creatures do to positively affect the treatment and care of homeless shelter animals? How can YOU and our community get involved to help make a difference for the lives of homeless shelter animals?
Capstone Blogpost #4: Interview
CLICK HERE to see the previous Capstone Site Visit blog post.
The Capstone project is coming to an end quickly, and it is time to interview. I interviewed two members of the ASPCA named Julie and Joey. Read all about what they do and what we did besides the interview at the ASPCA headquarters on my Capstone Site Visit blog post. Julie and Joey were very generous with their time, and let me ask all my questions. I worked very hard to prepare good interview questions, and I think I learned a lot. My idea for the questions is that I want questions that they could answer better than something I could find on the internet. I eliminated lots of questions to make all the questions fall into that category.’
Capstone Blogpost #3: Site Visit
Before: For our Capstone project, we must have a site visit. You visit a place that will help you learn more about the topic. I am visiting the Adoption Center of the ASPCA. There I am meeting Senior Vice President of Community Outreach Julie Morris and Senior Manager of Customer Relations and Communications and Head of the Adoption Center Joey Teixeira. When I was looking for who to interview, I first looked at the Board of Directors to see if my family or I knew any familiar names. When we didn’t, I looked at ASPCA Executive Leadership, and immediately knew who I wanted to interview. My mom and I gave Julie a call, and we left her a voicemail. She soon called us back and we planned out our meeting time. Julie soon sent me an email stating that we will also be meeting and touring with Joey. We will meet them at the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City. We will do some touring of the Adoption Center, and then stop for an interview. I made sure that Julie and Joey were okay with me recording the interview. She was going out of town soon, so we had to schedule it within a few days. Julie was so nice, and we can’t wait to meet each other!
Capstone Blogpost #2: Choosing a Main Inquiry Question & Sub Question
Now that I have my topic for capstone, I must choose a question that leads the project. This is called a main inquiry question. Since my topic is the animal charity Caring For Creatures, my main inquiry question is, What does Caring For Creatures do to positively affect the treatment and care of homeless shelter animals? How can YOU and our community get involved to help make a difference for the lives of homeless shelter animals? To answer that question, you must have sub questions. Ms. Edwards said that we have to have at least 6 sub questions, but I chose to have 8. Here they are!

Capstone Blogpost #1: Choosing a Topic
In Ms. Edwards’ fifth grade class we are starting our Capstone unit. We choose a topic and do research on the subject plus make an awesome project to show to the entire school! While choosing topics, Ms. Edwards gave us papers that could help us find out our final topic. She told us to be open minded about our topic, because we might want to change it along the way. She gave us questions sheets, and a “Curriculum Wheel” paper. It had lots of topics like architecture, music, art, culture, economics, math, literature, science, politics, and more to see which direction our project should go in. I chose the non-profit animal charity that I founded in third grade called Caring For Creatures. We collect donations to help enhance the lives of homeless shelter animals. Caring For Creatures is very special to me and I know a lot about it and therefore I believe it is a great Capstone topic. What do you think? Comment your thoughts on Capstone and my choice of topic. Stay tuned for more Capstone project updates!

2016 Presidential Election
This is a new update! Ted Cruz chose Carly Fiorina as his vice, but that did not help his campaign. Cruz soon dropped out of the election, leaving Donald Trump and John Kasich in the Republican party. Kasich was hoping Trump and Cruz would get into trouble, and he could be the nominee, but since Cruz suspended his campaign, Kasich did the same. That leaves Trump the only candidate left in the Republican party. Continue reading to learn about the Democratic party as well!
