Capstone Blogpost #2: Choosing a Main Inquiry Question & Sub Question

Now that I have my topic for capstone, I must choose a question that leads the project. This is called a main inquiry question. Since my topic is the animal charity Caring For Creatures, my main inquiry question is, What does Caring For Creatures do to positively affect the treatment and care of homeless shelter animals? How can YOU and our community get involved to help make a difference for the lives of homeless shelter animals? To answer that question, you must have sub questions. Ms. Edwards said that we have to have at least 6 sub questions, but I chose to have 8. Here they are!

1. What is Caring For Creatures?

2. How can Heathcote take a bite out of the miscare for homeless shelter animals?

3. What is the United States government doing about the issue of homeless and endangered animals?

4. How are celebrities standing up for shelter animals and supporting animal charities?

5. What does it feel like to be a shelter animal everyday, and how has it changed throughout the years? How does it and their behavior compare to the lives of pets with a caring family home with room to play and grow curiosity?

6. What are some of the horrible things happening to animals today?

7. How can YOU help Caring For Creatures grow to help more homeless shelter animals?

8. What does the future look like for homeless shelter animals?

Those are my sub questions. How do you like them and my main inquiry question? Comment below your thoughts, and look out for another capstone project update soon!

  1. Very clear and interesting post, Tyler. Given that you know the answer to”What is Caring for Creatures?” I suggest replacing it with a question that would let you know if others know about Caring for Creatures. For example, maybe you could ask, “What do people know about Caring for Creatures?” then create a survey to help answer it. If you like that idea, we could brainstorm with how and to whom to distribute.
