Capstone Blog Post #3 – Austin

Capstone is a research project where you get information about your topic and you present, at the end of the year, a Wevideo, Tedtalk, or Ignite. All have to be 3 – 5 minutes long. In the process of all of this research work, we created an essay to help us with our scripts. Here is the link to my essays, draft one and two.

Also in the process of this assignment, we had one “main inquiry question” to answer. Mine was “How have the rules of basketball changed from the early 1900s to now and how have the changes improved the game?” Well, to answer that question, basketball rules changes a lot over time. Every rule that came into the game, (over 100) all affected the game in it’s own way. For example, the three point line was a big change because without a three point line, you did not need to shoot from far away. Another rule, the foul rule, was a big change because without a foul, there would be no scoring. Players would do whatever they want to keep the other team from scoring. Even if it was very physical. Today, people are still trying to make changes to the way that the game is played. 13 potential rule changes are being proposed ahead of the 2021 – 22 season!

This all proves that basketball has changed in many ways, all effecting the game, in it’s own way. If you want to see me present my video click the link below.

Blog Post Rube Goldberg #2 Austin

It was super cool to design a Rube Goldberg. I faced many challenges such as setting all of the dominos back up when I failed, I struggled to keep the same concept as my sketch so I switched it a little. I learned to be patient with it because it takes time. My experience was different then I thought it would be. I thought that my project would be longer for my task to work. It took thirteen attempts and I thought it would take thirty. Overall, I loved Rube Goldberg! It was the best feeling when it worked! Check my video and you will see my reaction!  I had a lot of ups and downs in it, I was disappointed when it didn’t work, and like I said It was the best feeling when it did work.  Down below is the link to my Rube Goldberg Video.

Immigration Wevideo Austin Reflection

I love how my video turned out! I succeeded my goal which was for my video to be at least 2 minutes and thirty seconds. I did 2 minutes and 37 seconds. I had to make decisions for the pictures that made the most sense. I saw how fun this video was while doing the voice over, selecting the pictures, and more. My biggest challenge was finding pictures and videos. I loved this whole project even more because I got to do it on my grandpa. This made it so much better for me because I loved learning about him. In my video, I talked about how my grandpa came to america, why he came to america, his escape to leave america, and his new life in america.  Here is the link to my video down below.

Blog #1 Constitution Project Austin Question

The question I used for my project is What strategies did women use to help pass the 19th Amendment? I chose this because I was curious how woman fought for there right to vote. I wondered how they convinced the government to let them have equal rights as men. I also wondered How long did it take for woman to convince the government that they should have the right to vote.

Presidential Election

I hope former Vice President Joe Biden wins the election this year. I hope he wins because He says and I quote, “If I become the President I will take better care of our country and will help the pandemic COVID19.” I hope he wins so everything can go back to normal and COVID19 will soon be over. I also want him to win because he will help people afford their medical bills. He says that if he becomes President he will donate money to help people afford their medical bills.

Reading the weather Reading the World was a really fun project. The process of this was started out by doing research which was 1-3 weeks. Then we wrote a “braindump” of everything we knew we wrote down. Next we changed it up a little and put it into a script. Then we made a slideshow with pictures. then we had to memorize and practice out loud. Next we kept on sharing to the class and other classes. All of the slides were 15 seconds. And finally… here we ar now! I look foward to share to the parents!  I worked really hard on this and was really challenging to work with a group. Volcanoes are very interesting and I really recommend learning about them. Down below is my groups script  slideshow and “braindump” I hope you enjoy!

The Cultural Universals of Israel

I studied Israel. I focused on the Cultural Universals and they are: Politics, Economics, Cultural Arts, Beliefs, and Social Aspects. I did research from various websites and made an adobe spark video. I recorded and talked from my script. On the script I planned what I was going to say and the pictures I was going to put in the video. I then put the video on my blog. What I enjoyed about this was recording and putting in the pictures. What I found difficult was copying the writing into my script. I hope you enjoy watching the Cultural Universals of Israel!
