After Friday, we met on Saturday. We sat together and decided our team name: The Ominus Unnamed Masters! Then we decided to get working. Let the building… begin!
First, we thought it would be cool to start the Rube Goldberg with me and Steven pushing Jett on a baby roller coaster and him making a hoop. When he makes the hoop, it could ding a bell and trigger a wire. But we discovered that, even for a basketball god like Jett, the shot was to hard to make. It was because the ceiling was too low and he was shooting from from below. Also, none of us could fit in the roller coaster! So we had him get out of it and shoot. That worked. While Jett was practicing getting his shot pitch perfect, Steven and I worked on making an umbrella-powered car. The challenge with this was that the fan wasn’t strong enough to push the car. We decided to try the roller coaster. Because we weren’t using it for Jett to shoot a basket, we decided to use it for the balloon-popping step! We only needed to give it a small nudge with the air, and from then on it was all downhill.
Another time we faced a challenge was when it was only Steven and me. We were trying to make the contraption to trigger the stylus to fall. It didn’t work because it was too wobbly. But when we made the supporting rod smaller, it worked fine. I’m glad we kept trying and found a solution!
