I’m a little apprehensive now that the Quarter is almost over. However, during quarantine time, I have been drawing my thoughts and whatnot. I am looking forward to art class with Mrs. Freedman-Carmen!

We’ve learned about how you can strengthen buildings with shapes, such as I beams and triangles. It is impressive how people create such cool structures like the stadium that looks like a bird nest! I am having so much fun with technology.

We’ve learned so much about molecules! Not only have I learned about how certain metals work, but my family members have too. I enjoy watching Mr. Calvert do experiments, and following his directions. It’s so satisfying to create working experiments.

We have just started our metals unit. It’s cool how gold doesn’t like to bond with other atoms, despite the small amount of electrons. Learning about gemstones has dramatically altered my view on some cultures.

Recently we have been learning about the massive size of the universe and the impossibly small size of atoms. The difference is unbelievable!

The online learning has been very interesting. There are the pros and cons, but in the end, the only real change is not being able to work on physical objects.

Last Friday (2/7/20), we looked at boxes that did different things. There was a box that made a flag go spin when you turned the handle, and a box that made a flag go up and down when a wheel was turned.
Today, we looked at the inside of the boxes. The one that spun had two different gears turning each other, and the one that went up and down was on a oddly shaped wheel
