Electromagnet

Today in class, we learned how to test an electromagnet’s strength. We tested to wrap a quarter, a half, a three quarter, and one whole of the wire around the bolt. People have different opinions. Some people think that the less wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is. Other people think that the more wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is. It turns out that the more wire you wrap around the bolt, the stronger it is.

I wonder how does all of this work? How does the magnet get so powerful? Well, I guess that I have to find that out myself. Electromagnets are temporary, because you can take it apart or the battery had run out, or you disconect the wire. If those stuff happens then it won’t work.

When it was time to clean up, it was very messy. But overall it was very fun.

The Day At The Mall

One Saturday morning my dad pointed at the car. I said “Why?” My dad didn’t explain— he just said a few words “I think we should wake up Evan and eat breakfast.” I just said “Okay.” Walking like a snail into the big, red front door, I walked around the house waiting until I heard Evan’s loud noise.

After Evan woke up he ate like a messy little kindergartener and I ate like the slowest thing in the world!  I wondered who I should ask to get some clues about where we were going. I thought maybe my mom would know. “I was very confused when Dad pointed at the car,”  I said softly to my Mom. My Mom gave me a useless hint. She said that my Dad was taking Evan and me to a fun place! After my Mom said that I said that I still didn’t understand. My Mom suggested that I go upstairs and think.  I thought that was a great idea. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs into my room.

I thought and thought. Finally, I thought “why don’t I talk to Dad and maybe he could tell me some useful hints.”  I ran downstairs again into the office where my Dad sat, I asked, “can you give me some hints to the fun pace we are going too?”  My Dad answered in a low voice, “no but you are going to know very soon.” Once I said in my mind what? My plan did not work out as I thought.

I was very surprised when dad said that, he always gave me some hints,”but why doesn’t he give me some hints on this little trip” I thought. Suddenly my eyes got wide open. I thought that maybe this meant that this little trip might be very, very different from the other little trips! Suddenly I heard my dad calling me. “Cindy, come down, we are going to the fun place that you really want to know.”  I said, “Why are we going right now? It’s still 9:40.” My dad answered “Because Evan is done with his homework. Are you done with yours?” “Yes,” I shouted. My dad was very surprised at how loud I could shout. He shouted back, “ THEN COME DOWN INTO THE CAR AND HAVE FUN!”

I was more surprised at how loud my dad could shout! I went downstairs and walked out to the car. I was very excited. While I was thinking about where we were going, the car took off. I opened my eyes from thinking and looked out the window. I saw we were already on the highway! “Dad,” I said, “can we hear some music–I’m feeling carsick.” My dad turned on some music. I listened and listened for a long time and suddenly my nose pressed against the window as I looked out. “We’re here!” my dad announced as he pulled into a space in the large parking lot.

I rushed out of the car. My eyes opened wide. I held onto my dad’s and as we walked into the mall. It was gigantic! My dad took my brother and me to the highest floor. We were right in front of a huge obstacle course. “Let’s go in,” my dad suggested. “OK,” I answered excitedly. The attendant attached a harness around my body. I walked in first. “This so high, “I told my dad, excited. Then we climbed our way through the course, up through the levels.  As it got higher it, it was getting scarier. My brother told my dad he wanted to get off. My dad said to me “I’m getting off the course with Evan, OK?” I answered sadly, “OK,” and continued on the course.

I walked and walked but then got tired and started to head back to the exit. I heard a sound and turned. It was my dad and Evan waiting for me. I walked as fast as I could to the end and after taking off my harness ran toward my dad.I hugged him tightly because I had missed him. My dad asked us what we wanted for lunch. I said, “I don’t know, what do you want?”  He took us to get chicken nuggets. We ate super fast because we were so hungry after all that exercise.

After lunch, my dad took us to Billy Beez, an indoor park. It was very big, colorful and full of slides. My brother and I ran from one place to another non-stop until we realized that an hour had passed! It was time to go.  We left the mall and went to the car. I was so tired as my dad drove onto the highway that I fell asleep.
