In class I am reading Crazy Lady by Jane Leslie Conly and we are focusing  on social issues as a genre. My partner and I are working on close reading based on social issues.

One social issue in the book “Crazy Lady” one social issue is learning challenges. For example, Vernon has a hard time doing his work. He gets stuck on a lot of the homework questions. He gets lots of C’s and D’s in his report card. This is happening in other peoples life. For example, kids are not having a good education and are getting horrible grades. This leads to not getting into a good college and then this leads into a bad job.

Another social issue is death. For example, Vernon’s mom died and he is very depressed. Also, his dad is becoming more of a shyer person. This is also happening in real life. For example, when kids mom’s die the become very depressed and they are not really their self anymore.
