Horrible Times Better Capstone #1

May 26, 2017 - six word story

We started a project a few months ago and I am sorry I’m just blogging about it know. I am doing my capstone on the Ronald McDonald house.  If you don’t know what the capstone is it’s a big research project. I had the idea of doing a charity as my topic and I have always been interested in charity work. I was interested in it because I had volunteered there a few time and cooked a meal for the families staying there.

The Ronald McDonald houses is an organization that helps the family of a sick patient in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House helps the families by offering a place to live and financial support as having a child or sibling in the hospital. The house fundraises money from the community. Many people think that the house is fundraised by McDonald’s but it is not.  Christina Riley a Director at the house the Ronald McDonald house in the greater Hudson Valley said “ One huge issue we face is trying to inform people that Mcdonald does not fundraise the houses. Mcdonald’s only contributes to about 8% of the Ronald McDonald House funding.

The house goal is to help make these horrible times better. They try to make a horrible situation more tolerable. The house wants to relieve the stress of the family of a sick child because the family is already in such a difficult and stressful situation the last thing they need is to have to think about where to stay. The more I research I had about my topic and the bigger understanding I had for it the more my interest run the topic grew. My thought was to do a site visit in the house in the greater Hudson Valley. Christina the director at the house in Hudson Valley gave me a deeper understanding of my topic. She gave me a tour of the house. if you want to see the photos of my tour look down below. keep checking out the blog to make sure You don’t miss my next post on my capstone.
