My capstone project was challenging at the end because I had to find new pictures and record my audio again but one thing I learned was that always ask someone for help if you need it. My main inquiry question was How are codes developed and how do codes develop different designs? Some questions I will be answering are, How did coding start? What is a binary code? What was the first coding website? How do you use commands from codes? 

The first coding website was made in 2013 by Hadi and Ali Partovi. They wanted to make computer programming more accessible to everyone.The idea for the organization came from Hadi, who says that he thought of it on the day that Steve Jobs died in 2011.

How do you use commands from codes? Coding is computer programming. Code tells the computer what to do like a list of instructions. There are 4 types of coding. Coding is used for data compression, error control, cryptography, data transmission and data storage. ZIP data compresses data to make it smaller. Error control adds bits to make transmission smoother. Cryptography keeps data secure.

How do you create a code? The coder cannot really create a code but can use codes by putting the codes/directions into a website. Creating a code is the same thing as putting the code into the computer.

Electrical circuits process computer information. Electrical circuits can turn “on” and “off” using binary digits 0 and 1. Binary numbers can also represent “yes” or “no” and “true” or “false.”

How to put codes into the computer? The coder goes into a computer coding website and puts the codes into the computer. But sometimes there are bugs and glitches and then the command fails. 

People can get interested in coding because they have seen someone else code before or if they learned it in school. The coder learns how to code by taking a computer class or they did a computer project.

How do you use commands from codes?The coder puts the command in the computer. The computer should recognize the command and turn it into a code. When it recognizes the code it takes the code and knows what it is and it knows how to react to the code and take the code that you put into the computer and it does the command.

The purpose of the interview is to ask your interviewee questions about your topic that they need to know a lot about.  I interviewed my older sister, Dominique, who is a successful coder. Since I was interviewing my sister,  I felt very comfortable and at ease asking her questions.

Since my sister was a coder and I had easy access to her, I thought she was a good person to interview. I called my sister to ask if I could interview her for my capstone project . Dominique said yes to being interviewed and we set up a zoom call for me to interview her. Thought that she was going to be good because Dominique knows how to code.

I first worked on making a list of questions while in LRC and finished my list when I came home. I wrote the questions down in a google document and took a picture of the questions to send to Dominique so she could be prepared for the interview. 

When it was time to zoom with my sister, I was prepared and had my questions on my screen. I used my Chromebook  for the interview but it was very glitchy. After hearing some of the questions, I realized that I needed to rewrite some questions because some of them didn’t really make sense. Next, I rewrote the questions and asked Dominique my new questions. I should make sure that my questions were completed to show to my sister before the interview.

I learned that there are different types of coding. I also learned that you have to take special classes to learn about coding.

 My Rube Goldberg project was challenging because it was hard to reset all the dominoes, books, and baseball.  The balloon popped a lot because the placement of the balloon was bad because I put it too close to the thumb tack. When I was trying to put it in place, the toy car with a thumb tack never worked because I had to find a sharper thumb tack and make the balloon closer to the thumb tack but not too close.

I thought that the immigration project was a little hard because you had to find the right photos and it was hard fitting the words with the photos. And finding a person to talk about there journey to America. And the voice over was hard because sometimes it was to loud or soft. but I liked doing it because I got to learn new things about people.

I really liked Ms Stevens because she had so many stories to tell. She came because of economic reasons and other things. Another reason about the immigration project was that you get to learn how hard it was when you wanted to go to America. They would have to leave their home because of wars and how there treated because they would get robbed and tortured. They also would get sick because there is very little medical attention. The immigrants journey was difficult.

The research was hard because I had to find really good sites to add to the slides. Another reason it was hard coming up with different questions. The research was the hardest part because there were so many sites to go to.

I picked the topic of why women were not allowed to vote. It was a cool topic because I wonder how hard it was because men had more rights then women.

I studied the Cultural Universals of Greece. I focused on these cultural universals: politics, social aspects, economics, cultural arts and beliefs. I enjoyed putting the pictures in the slide show and research. The thing I thought that was hard was writing in our own words and getting the research. I hope you enjoy watching my video!
