This week we had to make the electroscopes. The steps were to cut out a circle of cardboard depending on how big the rim of a glass cup was, and then you had to cut a line until you hit the middle of the cardboard, and then you unravel a paper clip so that it is a straight line, and then you cut out two pieces of tinfoil that look like teardrops, and then your stick the teardrops onto the paper clip without ripping them, and then you put the paperclip in between those two lines of the cardboard that you cut till the middle, and then you hang that cardboard with the thing hanging off of it in the cup making sure that nothing is touching the side of the cup, and then you tape it on and rub a balloon onto your head, and then once the balloon makes your hair static, then you face the static part of the balloon to the paperclip sticking out and then see what happens. I noticed that the teardrop shaped tinfoil pieces were moving apart from each other.
