Journal #9 CapCon 2021! (Post #3)

Hello Readers~     I was feeling ambitious today so here I am with another post.  I will be updating you on my Capstone project and reflecting on my Interview.  Tzivia Gover (My interviewee) an author- Link Here-, Education Director of the Institute for Dream Studies- Link Here– , and founder of the 350 Dreamers.  She was very busy.  Tzivia gave me minimal answers but it was all I needed from her.  I was unable to do a virtual call with her but here’s the information I got!

⚝ Why should we lucid dream?

We can get many benefits from lucid dreaming. Once you realize you are dreaming, it opens up to a whole new level of adventure, wisdom, healing and personal growth.

⚝ Why do we lucid dream?

There is not much information about why we lucid dream. However, many people experience lucid dreaming spontaneously, so we know it’s a natural state of consciousness. It’s also possible to learn to lucid dream.

⚝ What happens when we lucid dream?

First of all, you know you are dreaming while you’re dreaming! This is an exciting experience because then you can decide to try different things, like flying, within the dream.

⚝ How often should we lucid dream?

There is no set amount that people should experience lucid dreams. However, people who lucid dream enjoy the experience, so you can do it as often as you like (and are able to!).

⚝ How do we lucid dream?

Again, for some people lucid dreaming comes naturally. But if it doesn’t you can try. One way is simply to give yourself the suggestion as you are falling asleep: “Tonight I will know that I’m dreaming while I’m asleep and dreaming.”

⚝ When do we lucid dream?

Lucid dreams can occur at any time during sleep. The Lucidity Institute’s newsletter, NightLight, stated that the average time for lucid dreaming occurs basically six and a half hours after falling asleep for those who sleep in for about seven-to-eight-hours.

⚝ What are the cons of lucid dreaming?

I don’t know of any negatives to lucid dreaming, but some of the benefits include experiencing creativity, enjoying interesting adventures, healing psychological issues, and gaining spiritual wisdom.

⚝ Tell me a little about what you feel about Dreaming

Dreaming is a natural and healthy part of sleep. I hope more people take an interest in dreaming in general (and lucid dreaming, too) because dreams offer us new perspectives, interesting experiences, and also the potential to understand ourselves and our experiences more deeply.

⚝ Why do we dream?

The dreams come from a part of the brain that is more active when we are asleep. There is not a lot of information about what causes our dreams, what activates our dreams and what information we do have is changing every day with dream research.

⚝ What happens when we dream?

When we dream, our mind brings information from our subconscious mind into the dream narrative, often in the form of a story featuring characters, locations, and events that combine real-life references and imagined people, places, and/or things.

⚝ How do we dream?

Dreams are part of our natural healthy existence.  They are the result of altered brain chemistry during the sleep cycle. People average 3-6 dreams a night, whether they remember them or now.

⚝ When do we dream?

Most of your dreams happen during REM sleep, since your brain is more active. REM sleep happens 90 minutes after you fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each of your later REM stages gets longer, and the final one may last up to an hour.

⚝ What are the cons of dreaming?

Dreaming is a natural function of healthy sleep. There are no negative effects from dreaming. In fact, dreaming has been shown to help with emotional regulation, learning, and memory consolidation, along with many other therapeutic benefits.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to use this information since I knew most of these answers and I have to say, it could’ve been better.  I appreciate the opportunity I had to *interview* her and provide me with the answers I need!
