Capstone Post #3 – Interview

My interview was with my snowboard teacher, Mel McDaniels. She is a competitive snowboarder and knows a lot about snowboarding history. At first, I was nervous about my interview but then my dad told me it was over the phone which calmed me down. At the start me and her just caught up with each other and that lasted about 3 minutes which I didn’t realize. After we actually started the actual interview questions I felt like I actually had a job because I was sitting in a spinning chair while sitting at a desk with a computer. My dad recorded it from his phone and I just have to transcribe all of that with my dad which should take approximately 3-6 days. Mel was really friendly and talkative so she actually elaborated on my questions like how she explained about Olympic snowboarding when I just asked, “What is your opinion on competitive sports.” The interview was about 25 minutes and at the end I told her about my site visit and how some snowboard shops where I live aren’t open during the spring so she gave me some advise and told me to email some snowboard shops in Park City, Utah. She said those shops were open all year so they could send me some photos. Overall throughout the whole interview I was very grateful that she took her time to actually help me with this. The challenge I have now is to transcribe all of the 25 minute conversation which will be annoying for me.
