As fifth-graders, we get to do a super fun project called Capstone. We pick a topic and do research about it. We then make a presentation that answers a question about your topic.
I chose my topic because we filled out a form that told us to come up with topics for each question. Then we picked two out of those. I picked ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Baking,’ I picked Harry Potter because I know a lot about it and I love it. But I didn’t pick it because I already wrote my feature article about it and also because I didn’t have a question about it.
My question is ‘Baking: science or art?’ I chose this because we had to fill out an organizer about our topic. It asked us to write questions for art, architecture/design, culture, economics, geography, literature, math, music, politics, and science. I was stuck between ‘When does a cake become art?’ and ‘What is the science behind baking?’ It was hard coming up with the question because I was stuck between the art and science of baking. I didn’t know which to pick and I liked them both. I decided to combine them.
I have learned that I am really interested in baking and the science of baking. That is it for now, but come in a week to read my next blog post!
