Reflecting On My Capstone Project

I have been doing capstone for a very long time and I am finally almost finished.  During this project I have learned that researching is not my greatest skill and that I enjoy my work more when I get to choose what I learn about. I think a strength of my final project is the fact I had to interviews to compare to each other. Both of my interviews had different perspectives because I interviewed someone who failed at OIT and someone who is successfully doing OIT. I think if I were to do capstone again I would choose a easier topic, or change how i did my research. I would find more articals to refrence and interview a real allergen doctor. I had a hard time with research because OIT is a more recent treatment, but my interviews were probably the easiest part. For my interviews I already knew 2 people who do/did OIT. I also had an easy time writing my script because I had my information organized. I think my capstone turned out great and I am proud of the work I did. If you want to learn more about OIT you can check out the websites I linked down below.

Reflecting On My Capstone Interviews.

For my capstone I interviewed 2 children and their parents. 1 child previously did OIT but had to stop because she developed a health condition called EOE from it, and the other child is still doing OIT right now. I got a lot of information from both of my interviews, and I think both went great!

One thing I learned is that OIT is a very long process that is not enjoyable for kids. I also learned that the kids and parents point of views of OIT were very different. For example when I asked the question: Do you like OIT? Why or why not? The kids answered very differently than the parents. The kids would say: I don’t like OIT because it’s annoying to do everyday. The parents would say: I like OIT because it lets me know that in case something happens I know my kid will be safe. That is all I will be sharing for now but I will get further into detail in my final project.
