Messy Science Sugar Experiment

Today we had a thing called MESSY SCIENCE. It is exactly what it sounds like. First, we had a little discussion about what we were going to do and talk about Hypotheses. What we were going to do was mix sugar with different liquids and make a hypothesis of what we thought was going to happen. The liquids we were mixing with sugar was Water, Oil, and Vinegar. After our talk, we went to our tables and started the experiments. First, we got the sugar, we had to get 4 tsp of sugar. Then we added food coloring to the sugar, we chose our sugar to be red, the food coloring made the sugar all sticky so it turned into a ball of sugar. Then after I mixed all the coloring into the sugar it stopped being sticky. We chose to mix the sugar and the oil first. Our hypothesis on this was that the sugar was going to go to the top and the oil was going to turn dark because of the coloring. But instead, it did the exacted opposite of what we guessed would happen. All the sugar went to the bottom and the oil didn’t even turn the slightest bit of red. Then we decided to mix Sugar and vinegar (Which smelled terrible). We made the exact same prediction for the vinegar than we did for the oil. And guess what happened, it turned out exactly how we predicted. Then was sugar and water. We made the prediction the sugar would just float around but the color would turn completely red. And what happened was 50% of our guess the water turned red but the sugar didn’t float around. I say we did pretty good on our guesses but that is all that happened today at MESSY SCIENCE

The Cultural Universals of Peru

In my Cultural Universal Project I studied the Cultural Universals of Peru. I learned about Politics, Social Aspects, Cultural Arts, Economics and Beliefs. I had a lot of fun. My favorite part of the project was making the Adobe Spark video, recording, studying and learning about Peru. Something that was challenging was making the script because sometimes I didn’t find the information I needed. Another thing I found challenging was finding pictures of my country. For example, I could never find a picture  of the president or the flag of my country I couldn’t find any pictures of Peruvian food. I would love to learn more, overall I enjoyed this project.

Catrinas little sister wants go to the festival of Dia de los Muertos, but she can’t because she has cystic fibrosis and she can’t go outside because she can get hurt so Catrina goes for her. Maya wants to meet their grandmothers ghost, read the book to find out if they ever meet.

I would give this book a five out of five stars because the ending is so so good and when I needed to stop reading, I didn’t want to put the book down because I wanted to get to the end of the book. I would recommend this book because the ending is so good and you wouldn’t ever want to put the book down.

Math Graphing – Bar Graphs and Pictographs

This is my graphing project. I surveyed my classmates and teachers and asked them, “ where would you rather live?” They had 5 choices they were, Tokyo, Mexico, Paris, Mississippi and Utah. I tallied my results and created a bar graph. On my slideshow, I created both a bar graph and pictograph to display my data. One thing I enjoyed about this project was making my big bar graph. One thing I found challenging was, making everything perfect and neat. I hope you enjoy viewing my final Google Slides Presentation.

My Expert Book

My Expert Book is all about a sport not many people know about. The title of the book is “Synchronized Ice-Skating.” I really enjoyed writing my expert book, and finding all the pictures that are in my book. I thought that thinking of all the captions was hard. In this book you will learn all about a new sport. I hope you enjoy reading my book!

Thanks for reading!

Christmas Moves

“what should we do” I asked my cousin pacing up and down the hallway.

“I don’t know! Why ask me?” my cousin said starting to pace even faster like it was a competition. We ended up on the couch on different sides. My mom came stomping in like an elephant. She told us to apologize. She said it in a calm sweet voice, but I knew she was mad inside.

“Sorry,” I said crossing my arms in anger.

“Sorry,” my cousin said looking like she was about to scream. A little while after that, we were friends again and we started finding dance moves to combine into one perfect dance. We practiced and practiced and practiced that dance.

One week until Christmas… 3 days until Christmas… a few more hours until Christmas. It was the day! It was a stampede of families to my grandma’s house.

“Next up, Sofia and Lola.” We got up. I was shaking. We started dancing. The crowd started cheering. Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. I started to get comfortable and the cheering got louder and louder and then… my dad started FLOSSING! I quickly ran to my dad, grabbed his hands and tried to hold them up above his head so he would stop.

“STOP!!!” I yelled stomping my feet. He started laughing, but eventually stopped. I wiped my head in relief. Then, we had cake with a scoop of Ice cream on it. It was awesome! Everybody started leaving after that.

“All that practice paid off,” I said crossing my arms feeling more positive then I have ever in my entire life.
