Levers

Levers are one of the 6 simple machines. You would have most likely seen one In your regular every day Lives. A wheel barrow is a lever or a fishing rod or Evan the back of a hammer that you use to take out a nail. Levers have 3 parts a fulcrum a load and the effort.

F L E

1 2 3   You use this to determine what class your lever is. F is first class L is second class and E is third class. Levers can help you a lot when you have to lift something heavy but class three leavers make you move faster but it is heavier.

I think leavers are interesting how about you?

Circuits

A Circuit is a circle of wires with a current of electrons flowing through it. The ones we made had LED lights, batteries and resisters. The resistor can get very hot because the electrons move in a current that goes fast and when it gets to the resistor it has to slow down so that creates heat. We made circuits with a 9 volt battery a resistor a light a bread board and some wires. Mine worked. Soon we will be making a more complicated circuits I’m exited.

Lightning

You may have seen some flashes of light during a thunderstorm. And they go by really quickly. Light is the fastest thing on earth that I know of and it always wants to take the shortest rout to the ground. Usually a Leigh night storm happens when it is raining and a house is tall. Lightning always wants to take the shortest and easiest rout which means the heist things it can find. Also if your house is tall and wet it would most likely go to your house and if you didn’t have a lightning rod it could send your house up in flames. That is why we have lightning rods on our houses. The lightning rod is made and connected to a lot of wires twisted together to make one big one. It needs to be a big wire as to not cause any damage to your house.

Electroscope

This week we made electroscopes basically we put cardboard on the top of something see through and put a paper clip through it then you put tinfoil on the end of it and tape it up. After that take a Ballon and rub it on wool or flannel. Then the tinfoil should move. So that’s what we did.

Trusses project

So this week we made a structure out of tooth picks and something that holds it together. I used twister bites for mine. It held five books. Also it had triangle trusses on on it because triangles are the strongest shape. I am really impressed with it.
