Immigration Post #1: Preparing for the Interview

We are doing an immigration unit in social studies, and our teacher and the other fifth grade teachers assigned us a immigrant interview! The exciting thing is this is a new assignment and we are going to be the first ones to do it, because it is a completely new activity.

My first though was, “Who am I going to interview?” Instantly I answered myself, “My dad!”  My dad is an immigrant from Jamaica. After telling Mrs. Edwards who I was going to interview, I had to come up with questions. There were two different types of questions we talked about. The were green light questions and red light questions. A green light question is a question that the interviewee can give a long talk about. A red light question is a question that can be answered with one or two words or a simple sentence. My favorite question is, “Is there anything you want to share that we didn’t get to talk about that you would like to share?”
