Rube Goldberg Blog Post #2

I have finally completed my Rube Goldberg project! After a long wait of time until I was finally able to set everything up. My first sketch did not go according to plan. Then when I tried something else which was a little change up from my original plan that didn’t work either. I was running out of ideas. Finally at 11 a clock at night my parents came home and they were tying to help me also. Nothing was working at all. Then my dad came up with a little idea and then together we thought of a whole new project to do. It only took 10 minutes to think of and set up. Then it was time to test and video. It only took me 5 tries to complete and if you want to see my video the link is below

So far, this project has been my favorite project ever. I haven’t been able to start to build the project but I have many plans. Over the past couple of weeks I have been writing tons of plans in my notebook. After a long decision I have decided which contraption I should do. My simple task is to fill my cup with water. I took my time drawing the sketch for this idea. Now I have to gather all the materials I need and I can start building!

Mystery Monday #3

Today we did mystery Monday. We got peices of the map and put the all together and we caculated the water on the earth. My class and I found out that their is not alot of fresh water on the earth. Only 1% of water is clean but 2% of the water is clean but frozen. We were talking about different ways we can get more water. Finally we thought of ground water. We got the queston, How do people get water from far under ground. I think people get water from under ground from a drill or big machines that digs deep. After the hole is made you can get a well or just keep the hole there or just cover it up.

Today our group made no improvements on on our train. However our train was levitating. It went across the track with 32 marbles. The train was able to go across the track without one little tiny tap.

Our train had one strip magnet on each side so we only needed two strip magnets for the train. The reason we did not put a strip magnet on each of the four sides was because we didn’t want the train to way too much so the train to not levitate high. For the track we put three strip magnets on each side. The reason we put three strip magnets on each side was because our train was not levitating very high. So we put three strip magnets so the track will have more power to make the train levitate higher. We only put six strip magnets on the track. So as you can see we only needed eight strip magnets. I think our model was successful because the train was levitating high and it went across the track safely with the passengers.

I learned that every step in the EDP process is very important. Also I learned how maglev trains work and how to make one.I also learned that being in a group and working as a team is very important to accomplish your goal.
