Happy Like Soccer By Meredith Beth

In class we read the book Happy Like Soccer after listening to the book all of the kids wrote a reflection, here is mine…

NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPY LIKE SOCCER. Sierra is just a girl committed to soccer living with her aunt in the great big city of New York. She plays for a team out of the city that she feels left out on because she is not great friends with any of the other girls. But there is another problem, her aunt can’t come to any of her games because of her shift at the diner. Sierra is tired of her soccer teammate’s parents cheering her on by her number and not her name. When Sierra’s aunt finally comes to one of her games something goes wrong. Sierra feels as if she could fly at the end of this story when her aunt is there watching her play soccer. The title Happy Like Soccer fits the story very well because when Sierra’s aunt is there to see her play soccer she feels so happy and feels like she is flying.
