Ecosystem project

In 4th grade we do an ecosystem project. First we have to choose an ecosystem I chose the Tundra. And then we researched we researched in topics, the topics were consumers, producers, location, decomposers, unique, and fun facts. After we researched we did a PSA script, in the PSA script we outlined our ideas for the wevideo. After the Psa script we did a story board the story board is an organizer for our rough draft  After we finished our storyboard we learned how to work we video, we video can make cool videos easily. so we learned how to make a we video by choosing any topic we want so we would know the basics of we video. We learned how to do transitions which are after the video or the picture is finished a sort of movement. And then we started a first draft on our Ecosystem. We also learned how to do voiceover, voiceover is our voice in the we video. We had to make the video 1 minute. Mr.Casal showed us a website to get better picture called creativecomons.com

The hardest part of the we video was to get better pictures.

The easiest part was to get the video to 1 minute.

Biography project

In 4th grade we do a biography project. We pick someone to do it on, I picked Milton Hershey, then we researched. This is my blog post.

Childhood

Milton Hershey was born in 1865 in a stone farm house in Derry Township where there wasn’t  any chocolate in America. So, Milton had to spend his pennies on sour balls and peppermints. He belonged to the Mennonite religion. Mennonites dressed plainly and worked hard as farmers. They didn’t go to dances or play cards. At thirteen Milton got a job running a printing press. Milton was supposed to set blocks of type on a printing press. Each block was set by hand. But Milton didn’t like his job. He was pretty clumsy when he dropped stuff his boss was very angry at him. So he got a job at Joseph Royers ice cream shop. And there he learned the basics of candy making.

Adult life

When Milton was an adult he made his own candy business, he didn’t have enough money so he borrowed $150 from his mother’s sister Mattie. He only sold his candy for 1 cent. He was losing money from the candy shop because sugar was lots of money, and he only sold his candy for 1 cent, so Aunt Mattie asked uncle Gabe for more money. Milton’s candy shop wasn’t that much of a success so it closed after 6 years. And then Milton found another job. That wasn’t a success either so he found a job at New Orleans, and then he went to Chicago, and then he went to New York.

In 1886 he had just enough money to go back to his hometown. He wanted to make another business so he got more money, this time he made a caramel business. Some english guy really liked Miltons caramels so he placed a big order. Milton didn’t have enough money to make all of the caramels so a banker named Mr.Brennaman gave him $700. He hired some workers. He got the money from the English man so he could give Mr.Brenneman the $700 back. People from all over the world came to eat MIltons caramels.

MIlton married someone named Kitty. Milton sold his caramel factory for 1 million dollars Then he started to make milk chocolate. He made a huge chocolate factory in Derry Township,  around Miltons factory he built a town. There was churches, a school for children whose parents died or couldn’t care for them, and for entertainment there was a park, golf course, and even a zoo! The town was ready in 1905. In 1907 Milton started to make Hersheys Kisses. The chocolate was so popular that it was even sold at candy shops, grocery stores, and bus stops. After Kitty died Milton gave all of his 60 million dollars to the school. He died on October 13, 1945.

Challenges

Milton Hershey had a few challenges in his life, here are some of them. The first few times Milton sold candy he failed. More money was going out of Milton’s candy shop then in. Lots of Milton’s shops were out of business. Milton failed in each place.  He needed more money to pay the loan that Mr.Brennaman gave him.

How he changed the world

Milton Hershey changed the world by making Hershey chocolates. He also made Cadbury chocolates, Jolly Ranchers, Kit Kat, Reeces Pieces, Twizzlers, and Ice breakers. He was the first to make milk chocolate. He also made a school for children whose parents died or couldn’t care for them.
