Topic choice and proposal.
I sat down and I thought about things I would like to research about. Since I am very into sports at first I thought about football. But then I realized that was too broad. I didn’t just want to do a research project I wanted to do something that had stories behind it. I started thinking why do I love watching sports? There are so many things i like, but one thing that interests me are the stories behind the teams, including and especially the rivalries.
Once I decided on a topic, it was easy to figure out specific questions on things I wanted to learn more about. I also decided which sports I wanted to focus on. I have just decided to look at NBA basketball, college basketball, football, college football, soccer. At first I thought I would do baseball because there are some really big rivalries there, but I don’t like baseball so I decided to not look at baseball rivalries.
For my passion project, I am going to learn about sports rivalries. I chose to research this topic because I like sports and like learning about stories relating to sports. I often watch documentaries relating to sports with my family. I like watching sports because sports are always fun to watch but I also like knowing about heir teams, and the stories behind both.
I plan to research sports rivalries over the history of sports. I am going to pick and focus on a few rivalries from every sport including football, basketball, college football, college basketball and soccer. In my paper, I want to research when and how the rivalry started, why it started, and look at differences in the story of the team’s rivalries.
