Conducting Research for My U.S. Constitution Project

During the past two weeks I have been working on finding resources and researching for my project. The three resources I chose were:

  • United States Courts – What does the Freedom of Speech mean?
  • Pacific Legal Foundation
  • National Affairs

Out of the three I think I liked the United States Courts resource the best, and I think I found the most information on that.

Overall I think the research has gone really well and I have found lots of great stuff for my project.

Blog Post #1 – Why did I Choose my Question to Research

For the 5HE Constitution project I chose the topic Freedom of Speech. I chose that topic because I am interested in learning about why the freedom of speech is so important and the roles it has played throughout history. So I came up with the question, “Why is the Freedom of Speech an important right?” I chose it because it interests me. It’s so cool to think about how much the freedom of speech has done for people, the freedom of speech was important when Martin Luther King Jr. did his speeches. The freedom of speech is a very interesting topic, and I can’t wait to learn more about it.

My Thoughts On the Electoral College

I think that the Electoral College is a good system. I think it makes sense that the states with higher populations are worth more Electoral votes. I don’t think it would make sense if all the states were worth the same amount of points. Sure its easier to understand that way, but think about it. For example, if both New York and Maine were both worth 25 electoral votes and one candidate won Maine and the other won New York, that wouldn’t be fair. It wouldn’t be fair because you would have to win a lot of people in New York to win that state, but not as much in Maine. So overall I think the Electoral College is a good system.

Presidential Election 2020

The Presidential Election of 2020 is today! The two Presidential candidates are Joe Biden (Democrat) and Donald Trump (Republican). If I could vote I would vote for Joe Biden.

I would vote for him because he acknowledges that inequality between Black people and white people is the result of long-standing laws and policies. As president, he says he would enact policies to close the racial wealth gap, which is a direct result of centuries of racist laws, policies, and practices.

Another reason I would vote for Joe Biden is because Joe Biden has said he believes that climate change is a major threat to the United States and the world. He wants to invest 2.3 trillion dollars in projects to learn more about climate change. He thinks climate change is a problem that needs attention. Unlike Donald Trump, who has questioned how much of an emergency climate change is.

So overall I would vote for Joe Biden. He acknowledges that inequality between Black people and white people is the result of long-standing laws and policies and he thinks climate change is a problem that needs attention. So vote for Joe Biden!

Jamestown and Plymouth Venn diagram

I really enjoyed this project.  I thought is was really cool to learn about two different colonies, Jamestown and Plymouth. It was a pretty easy process, First we read about the two colonies and took notes. Then once we knew a lot about the two colonies we made a Venn diagram we placed important things we knew about each colony into their own circle. Then we put what we knew that was the same. It was really fun and now it’s here for you to see:

Thanks for looking at my project! 🙂

Cultural Universals Project (Peru)

This is my book on Peru. We had to do a lot of research with books, articles, and reliable websites. It was hard work because we had to research five  cultural universals: 1) Politics, 2) Social Aspects, 3) Beliefs, 4) Economics, And 5) Cultural Art. After we got all the information we needed we typed them into the five categories. We wrote our information on our choice of book creator. We added pictures and some finishing touches. It was a hard process but we did it! Hope you enjoy.
