An Author Visit With Caroline Moss

Yesterday afternoon was a really fun afternoon. One new author who just published her two new books, wanted to introduce kids to them. Her name was Caroline Moss. Caroline Moss created a series called Work It Girl. She only wrote two books so far that are published, but will have two more coming out in the fall. The first book that she publish is called Run The Show Like CEO Oprah Winfrey. This book is about how Oprah Winfrey was very poor and people made fun of her, to being a big host on a big TV show. The second book is called Boss The Big Seller List Like J.K. Rowling. This book is about how J.K. Rowling wrote a book that she kept a secret for 3 years. Once she was done with it, she showed it to a publisher. He/she said no. Then another publisher said no. But she didn’t give up trying. Eventually, she went through at least 30 publishers that all said NO! But she didn’t stop trying. She found one last publisher and he didn’t like it. But that was because it wasn’t supposed to be read by a grown up. They were supposed to be for kids. The publisher said that he/she would give it to their daughter to read. She LOVED it. The publisher published the book, and she became a billionaire. Over all, the author visit was really fun.

Author Visit with Kate Messner

Yesterday, I was so excited. The author, Kate Messner, was going to come to school to talk about her books. I was really excited because 2 nights ago, I finished her book, The Exact Location of Home. It was a super good book that you should try to read.

Mrs. Kenny’s class was in the library when my class came in. I was squished between my friend Tara and the radiator. Kate showed us a slideshow, and taught us about her books and experiences.

First, she showed us pictures and steps of her picture book, The Brilliant Deep. Mrs. Byrnes the librarian read this book to us 4 weeks before Kate came in. This book was non-fiction, fiction, book. This book was based of a true story about one man who recreated the coral reefs. He used pieces of coral and glued them on, hoping they would grow. You should read this book to find out what happens.

The next book was my favorite to listen about. For this book, Kate taught us the process of her series, The Ranger in Time books. Kate showed us that she went to many places to research. I think I loved listening to her tell us about Ranger in Time, because I like to know about natural disasters and dogs. Ranger in Time was about a dog who finds a mysterious box, which teleport’s him to different natural disasters.

Lastly, Kate mentioned about her newest book, Breakout. This one, out of all books that Kate wrote is the one I want to read. This book is based off of  the Dannemora prison break in N.Y. I especially want to read this book because I like mystery books.

Have you ever read one of Kate Messner’s books? Did you enjoy it/them?
