#3 Capstone blog post

In my final project, I have 15 slides and it takes me about five minutes for my voiceover. I have Apple TV so that is good because I can present it on my TV. I think that my final presentation is really good and I have all the right pictures for the slides. I have said everything that I learned about my subject in the amount of time required which is good so that I don’t have to narrow it down because I don’t think I could have left out anything.

The answer to my main inquiry question consists of several parts. I think in each category the best weapons are a sword, pike, shovel, bow and arrow, bigger round shield, and a flaming arrow. I am proud of my presentation, which is a TED talk. I chose this for my presentation style because I wanted to be seen and I didn’t want the slides to move automatically. I think that the best part of making the presentation was the prompt and the transitions because they really made my presentation come to life. Something that was great was that I didn’t have any problems making my final project. I am looking forward to sharing it with my class because I think it looks good and I think my project is interesting.

Capstone is a research-based project, where you think of a topic, then think of a question and then think of smaller sub-questions than you do a presentation.

I have had a lot of trouble picking a subject, I went from Navy ships to Navy planes to Navy seals and then to medieval weapons on offense and defense. I’m happy about medieval weapons because it’s something I have liked to do for a long time. I think the weapons are really cool too. It seems that researching is really fun. Or at least to me I think this is going to be the best project in elementary school.

When we do Capstone we have to interview someone. I interviewed a college teacher at Fordham university. I think that he was a very good person to interview because he is a teacher at Fordham. This is good because Fordham is a very good medieval studies college. I also learned a-ton of information. I had eight google doc pages full of his awnseres to my questions! He said a lot of stuff that none of my websites had even said once, like:

  1. A sword is a very good weapon because it is simple and very maneuverable.
  2. Digging under castle walls is a great way to destroy a wall because you will put sticks under the wall once you get there and then light the wood on fire and the wall will come crashing down.
  3. It will take months and months until the army that is besieging a castle is ready to actually storm a castle because you want to try and break down the walls as much as you can and make the people inside hungry and exhausted.
  4. A bow and arrow is a great weapon because it can fire hundreds of arrows in about an hour while a crossbow can only shout about 20 in an hour.
  5. A crossbow is a great weapon because it doesn’t require strength to load, but a bow and arrow does.
  6. A pike is a great weapon while defending a castle because it can push people down from ladders. A pike is also great against people riding on horses because it can hit them before they can hit you.
  7.  A round shield is an earlier type of shield used by vikings, that size of shield would go well with a hand axe or a sword. A smaller round shield is great for block short sword strokes.
  8. If there are a bunch of people on a castle wall all shooting arrows all at the same time nothing can stop that, it’s like rain falling on your head except it is very harmful.
  9. Fights under ground will sometimes take weeks and weeks.
  10.  You can use a rectangular shield to push people back or hit them to the ground.

At the end of the meating I thought it was a huge success and that  it was very helpful because he said things that the websites I was using didn’t even mention, this was good because I now know more things that I could add to my presentation!
