Gymnastics is not just a hobby it’s a lifestyle!

Hey guys! This season I moved up to level 4 and Iv’e had 2 competitions so far. In the whole season I have 10 competitions. So 8 more to go! My next competition is not until January so I have enough time to practice my skills. I will be posting gymnastics videos and gymnastics pictures of Olympic gymnasts. I may also post videos and pictures of me doing gymnastics. I can’t wait for you guys to see the videos I picked out. Here’s a picture of the Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez. laurie-hernandez_olympic-trials-training_usatsi_9372796

Gymnastics is my life

Hi guys. As you know from my very first post, I love gymnastics! I do gymnastics a lot (4 d7-8-16-simonebilesays a week) to be exact. I don’t mind that I spend a lot of time at the gym because gymnastics is a very fun and exciting sport. I will be talking about what I do on the gymnastics team, how to get ready for a gymnastics competition, and what it’s like to go to a meet and how I  feel about competing.

I compete in all four events: bars, beam, floor, and vault. My favorite events are floor and bars.  I like floor because I like to tumble and I love to learn and dance to the music routine. I like bars because it is really fun to challenge myself on what is, to me, the most difficult event. I love to hang out with my teammates. We support each other at the competitions and cheer each other on. The practices are 3 hours long and are tiring. Practices are very late at night and sometimes I get tired. We always start by stretching and doing our splits. We get tested on our flexibility so we have to work hard on getting and keeping all 3 of our splits. Then we warm up and tumble. Next our main coach splits us up into our different levels and we practice 3 or 4 events each day. We usually end with conditioning (push ups, sit ups and crunches).

Competition days are usually scary for me but sometimes fun. I’m always nervous that I will make a mistake and get a bad score. I do get really excited when I get to the meet and see my teammates, and I am psyched to compete with them. But before all that, I have to get ready: do my hair, put on my competition leotard and warm-up suit, and eat healthy foods. Hair is really important in gymnastics. If it gets in your face, the judges can take points off. My mom and I spend a long time doing my hair so that it looks perfect and neat. I usually wear a high bun, and at the end, I spray glitter into my hair. Eating healthy foods is very important before a competition because I don’t want to feel weak or hungry during the meet.

When I get to the competition (some of them are a few hours away), sometimes it is very crowded and chaotic and it takes a while to find my coach and my team. I look around to see where I will be competing while my family figures out where to sit. My family always comes to watch me do my best. When it’s time to begin, I stretch with my teammates. Just like in practice, we warm up, and then I am ready to compete. This season, my best event so far has been balance beam, and I have won medals at all my meets. I am hoping to improve my bar routine and I would love to win first place all-around at least once this season.

As you can see, I had a lot to say about gymnastics! It is my passion, and I hope to become better and better. I will tell you all about the competitions I have every time I have one. I really hope you injoy my posts about gymnastics!   I would like to hear what your favorite sport is and what your goals are in that sport. thanks, bye!
