In the 39 years Martin Luther King, Jr was alive, he disrupted the practice of racism in America and around the world. Martin Luther King, Jr was a leader not a follower. For example, when the buses were segregated Martin Luther King, Jr lead a boycott against the Montgomery bus system and after a year of boycotting the Supreme Court banned segregated busing.
In his time, King spoke at over 2,500 events worldwide. This means he delivered around 250 speeches per year. His meaningful words, and the gift of public speaking changed the world in many different ways. For example his speeches gave hope for all races to stop racism. HIs famous “I Have a Dream” speech was given before 250,000 people. My favorite part of his “I Have a Dream” speech was when he said “I have a dream… one day right there in Alabama Little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” His words were powerful, but also the way he emphasized certain words and phrases.
Did you know that Martin Luther King,Jr. would have been ninety years old this year? Who knows how much progress the world would have had against racism if Martin Luther King, Jr was still alive. I think racism would not even be a problem. Without Martin Luther King, Jr who knows how many more problems the world would still have with racism .
