Sunday, October 29th was the Five year anniversity of Superstorm Sandy. When Hurricane Sandy happened, castastrophic damage was caused in the north east and record amounts of water from the storm surged inland causing record amounts of destruction. At least 147 people died as the storm battered Northeast, Canada and Carribean. It was the second costed Hurricane in US history.
Yesterdays storm, though not a hurricane, brought damaging winds and flooding rain. Many roads were closed due to either flooding or downed trees. Even roads in our area were closed causing massive delays on the way to Heathcote School.
As the sun began to show today, we remember how our lives were disrupted and how thankful we are to have our to have Hurrcane Sandy a distant, yet close, memory. We will never forget the affects during the storm 5 years ago and we look forward to the future.
