My class just finished the book we were reading, Drita, My Homegirl. It was a REALLY good. In the part where Maxie vists Drita’s mother in the hospital, I think the reason why Maxie was so serious while everybody was laughing is because she knows how it feels when your mother dies and she didn’t want Drita’s mother to die. I have been trying to think of themes for this book but I haven’t thought of any yet. Does anyone have any themes for this book yet?
If you haven’t read this, book yet, I highly recommend it. In this book it has two points of views from two girls. On the outside, they are very different but in the inside, they are the same.

Read Zephyr’s post. She has some great insights. I think you are onto something though- Knowing how somebody feels, empathizing, is key to both getting along with and supporting others and also key to accepting, growing and loving yourself.
