Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes

Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes is a true story and it is about a girl named Sadako who got a disease called Leukemia which you get from an atom bomb. She was only a baby when America dropped a bomb in Japan. She is a very good runner but not only does she run literally, but she runs figuratively away from death. One example where it shows she runs figuratively away from death is onthe bottom of page 29 and the top of page 30, it says, once here mother cried, “Leukemia! But that is impossible!” At the sound of that frightening word Sadako put her hands over her ears. She didn’t want to hear anymore. Of course she didn’t have leukemia. Why. the atom bomb hadn’t even scratched her. This shows that Sadako is trying to be positive and she doesn’t believe that she has leukemia.
