Title: Extended Winter Could Cause Pluto’s Atmosphere To Freeze And Collapse By 2030!

Summary: You’ve probably heard of Pluto, the planet that has been demoted to a dwarf planet. If that was not enough, this planet is “in danger of losing it’s wispy atmosphere by 2030”, as it says in the article. This troubling statement comes from a 28-year-old study of the small celestial body at the edge of the solar system, by the team of international researchers led by University of Tasmania astronomer Andrew Cole. Pluto is 3.7 billion miles away from the sun, and very mysterious to human kind. In 1980, scientists began to think that Pluto had an atmosphere. In 1989, the scientists confirmed this when they discovered a layer of gases around the planet. As the research and facts grew, scientists learned that, like Earth, Pluto’s axis is tilted. This means that as it spins around the sun, the planet gets four seasons, just like on Earth. The difference is, it takes Pluto 248 earth years to complete a spin around the sun, so each season last for about…60 years! And even worse, Pluto receives no sunlight! Studying Pluto, the researchers have discovered that the planet is movingย awayย from the sun. This is expected to continue on until 2113, which means the tiny bit of sunlight that is keeping Pluto steady will not be there anymore and the planet will freeze and collapse!

Personal Response: I chose this article because I am fascinated about Pluto and the title was very interesting.
