Did you know sports cards were started in the 1880s? My inquiry question is how is the value of a sports trading card assessed and what are the characteristics that can affect its value. There are many interesting ways of how sports cards are assessed and valued but after my research, doing my interview, and a lot more I realized that the most interesting things are, how are sports cards valued? Who assesses trading cards and their value? And how do you know the value of a sports card? These questions are the three most interesting in my opinion on my topic and I am going to answer them for you right now.

There are several factors that impact trading card value, not the least of which is the grade a card might receive from an objective and independent firm. Popularity of the player is a very important part of the issue and the overall condition of the card can all affect a card. Whether it sports an autograph from the featured player or perhaps contains a piece of one of his/her game-worn jerseys could also play a role in the card’s potential escalation in value. One more reason a sports card will have a value would be if it is a rookie card. If it is a rookie card it will be a lot more money than a regular non rookie card because if it is his first year nobody knows if he/she is going to be good but if it is or a rookie it is not suspense and you know if he is good or not. Even though if you a Patrick Mahomes and it is not a rookie card it is still worth a lot of money because Patrick Mahomes is a very good football player.

Always look at a card with your eyes and if you can see scratches or something wrong with the card then do not grade it because if you can see one thing wrong without even looking with a microscope than it will most likely not grade a ten but maybe you could still get a nine or eight if there is nothing else wrong with the card.

One way to know the value of a sports card is to look up the more popular the player or team, the more desirable a card can be. Vintage Hall of Famers such as Jackie Robinson or Mickey Mantle, or modern stars like Mookie Betts, Mike Trout or Cody Bellinger are likely to be more highly valued than players who are not as well known or successful. Also you should look up the player and see if they are a good player or not. If it’s someone good like Patrick Mahomes it would be worth more than someone who is not that good at playing the game.

I hope you learned a lot about how sports trading cards are assesed and the chararistics that can affect its value.
